what day to put outside?

what day to put outside?
I have my 5 girls in the garage.

I dont like to show my plants early, and I put them out they are 3 footers.

Can I just keep them in a green house until June 1st?

I would recommend giving them supplemental lighting in a greenhouse until at least June 1st.

some growers put plants out mid-May, but some strains may revert to flowering stage then. seedlings on the other hand may be outside all throughout May while staying in vegetative state, just depends on the strain.

to be safe, I'd stick around the first week of June. I will be transplanting the girls here in to their final homes outdoors on June 1st...

Seeds or clones? Seeds you can put out now with no additional light as long as your temps stay above freezing and no frost is in the forecast you are good. Clones need supplemental light until june first.

OUR 'rule of thumb'...as long as lowest temp doesn't go lower than 38-40F....plants will do well outside, barring saturating rains. Rry either DIY Wall-O-Water (2 liter bottles taped encircling containers) or buy one. Why are you waiting until June 1st?!?

Early to mid-May, for sure!! Or another gauge...whenever you plant your tomato plants.

Cover up before impending storm occurs!

Well My plants are already outside in 10 gallon pots and are already quite large (over 2 foot) in a green house. I just was thinking of putting them out in the ground june 1st and perhaps put off all the stress on me working?

Ummm, just cause it's a seed doesn't mean you can put it out early. I have 2 volunteers right NOW, outside, and they are starting to flower, same as last year. A freshly cracked seed can be put out a month before clones without lights. After that they lose their natural tendency to not flower, especially if they are older than a month and were under lights.

When to put outside without lights depends on your lattitude and sun exposure. I always did June first, but I'll never grow big plants again, too much work. More smaller plants produce more in the same amount of garden space and are way less work! I'm doing seeds only now and not even cracking them until June first. I my friend did this last year and his plants still got 8 feet tall and six feet wide, but that all depends on a lot of factors and not everyone has maximum efficiency gardens.

We cut our clones/pop seeds indoor in mid April for our full terms. Once rooted they go into a greenhouse with supplemental light and a little heat for the chilly nights until June 1st. Then they go into they're final homes. June 1st is the safe date to end supplemental lights and put them in their final home. Ive seen people do it mid may with no problems and I've seen some put out mid may start to flower. I just keep it safe and wait until June 1st. If you have them in a greenhouse with supplemental lights there is no rush any way.

Man, you can do whatever you want. June 1st is generally going to be safe for 99% of everyone but check your last frost date.

i put mine out on may 10th. i been putting them out may 1 but since turkey season got extended here this year to the 10th i have to wait till then. my last frost date here is 25th of april. i have never had plants start to flower on me in may. i crack my seeds around the end of march-april 1st. i dont pregrow them under lights though just st8 into the pots and roll them in and out the shed till time to transplant. gl this season fellas

Kygiacomo!!! ok im same as you now.

One more question, my clones are now rooting outside my cups.
Can I transplant them still into larger 2,5,10 gallon pots?

I use roots accelerator. Will they fill a 5 or 10 gallon bag in 20 days?

They are VERY healthy with bright and vibrant roots!

He is using seeds which can go out earlier than clones with out flowering. With clones june 1st is a good day that they won't flower when you put them out.

I planted many clones may 1st. They are settled in , praying hard and almost 3-4 ft now. An extra 360 hrs of direct sunlight in May should help for growing big plants. Hoping for 5 plus ft plants on June 1st. Double digits come end of season

Lol once you have them triple caged and need an orchard ladder to spray them and work on them, you'll never grow big plants again. Bigger plants are so much harder to keep healthy and they suck up way more water per gram yielded than more smaller plants will in the same amount of garden space. It's really sad when you have a 12 foot wide, 10 foot tall plants start losing branches from fusarium because the root ball of the clone is too densely packed and the roots start choking themselves out. Or if you get hrm or broad mites and you literally have to take 6-8 hours to spray your 36 plant garden.

If you want 5 plus pound plants i highly recommend seeds. Or save yourself a lot of work and get higher yields by doing more smaller plants planted later.

Hopefully with 800-1000 gallon mounds, 4-5 yards of dirt will allow roots to grow freely. With Albright / reems adjusted soil, 25 lbs of amendments to each mound, I'm hoping for well balanced, healthy soil. growing healthy plants. So far plants really like to the new soil. Ph is 6.7 ....1/3 peatmoss, 1/3 compost, 1/3 lava rock....all micronutrients balanced ...tilled in cover crop,... Maybe this will Be my first and last season with big plants.

And for spraying, I suggest a multi sprayer approach, a team of people spraying, helps make large tasks possible. I have two 4 gallon Hudson never pump back pack sprayers, and. 12 gallon Atv sprayer with a 40 ft hose. . Definitely ready for what shall come. Should be interesting to see!

As far as spraying, try making a spray boom, like a field horizontal spray boom but put vertically. You need a pump to run it, but then you can get the right nozzles and just walk around your plants. To check your coverage you can get the spray paper used to calibrate sprayers to ensure you are actually getting the coverage you desire. For large plants you may also consider putting a horizontal boom over top so you can spray down into the canopy as well. I am not saying this will work 100% but if you have spare materials around, it may be worth checking out. Pneumatic wheels are quite useful.

Some spray robots for the greenhouse industry have fans installed on them under the nozzles that help obtain better coverage by blowing the leaves around and blowing the spray farther into the canopy.

You don't want to use backpack sprayers on a big garden believe me. Get an atomizer, they're around $200-250 and worth every penny. They will cut your spray time in half. They will save you a lot of aggravation and time which makes them worth every penny. No hand pumping bullshit, just flip the switch and spray. They get the best coverage too. You can get every inch of a plant a lot easier than backpack sprayers.

eighty9concentr, my atomiser cant spray very high in a "Tree" 8 foot+

I got a paint sprayer. You cant use tea but for bugs I have 125 foot cord and a splitter for two guys.

Best $800 iv spent.

I REALLY hate spraying. Ill make any excuse to not spray.

Yea we use ladders when the plants get to be 12-15' later in the season. We only spray in veg though unless we have a problem. My point backpack sprayers are useless in a large garden
