Ken Burns' & Lynn Novick's 'The Vietnam War', Episode 4, currently; hoping to get through the majority of the 10 parts by the time we switch over to a 75-MB transfer speed tomorrow or so.

'Cause nothing chases down seltzer water, tequila, turkey, oyster stuffing, sour cream apple pie with pecans, and the rest of it, like a trip through yester-year's anxiety, betrayal, losses, and fears.

Noted that JFK, Johnson, and Nixon -ALL- had private conversations with staff involving their considerations re. remaining in what was more privately perceived as a losing prospect, with re-election being the key point in the private discussions of ALL of them, re. staying in SE Asia.

I thought about how little has changed, where party supremacy figures so highly into whether or not to shed the blood of our kids.. or to be honest with the Public; now seemingly even less honest than then.

I'm more glad than before that I've told my children not to join.

Memories, nostalgia, bitterness, and wondering where some I knew & looked up to have gone. They were older, and not financially well-off, so they eventually went.

Thanksgiving. Yep.

That ken Burns, man. He puts together some amazing stuff. If you like his style, he also has a miniseries that covers the American west, prohibition and others. I was a history major so I get nerdy for those types of shows. It was interesting learning how much the medical marijuana movement borrowed from prohibition and medical alcohol.
