What are my best fem seed options for heavy yields in Northern California?

I wish I had the space and money to go with non fem seeds but I can't handle it right now. I used HSO's feminized Green Crack last year and it's good seed, no problems, solid plants, but I want something differen.

I could very possibly consider non fem seeds if they're like $25 a 10-pack... but at that price they're probably a gamble.

Any ideas? Experiences? Even just a tip in the right direction? Any crosses to avoid?

Does anyone have experience with Ganga Rebel's DSD crosses or any of his strains currently on SeedBay? They're only $50 a 10 pack on seedbay and the description says they yield well. Maybe I could get one of those.

I also saw some of Mendo's seeds are fem, Jerry Kush and.. Strawberry.. but I haven't gotten an email back.

Can't add too much besides that I was really close to getting the HSO Blue Dream based on the opinions here https://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=276205 but I went along with Bodhi's BD, it's regular seeds though. I ordered from Herbies and got HSO: Sour Diesel, Headband and Bubba's Gift fem freebies, you can check em out and see if they still offer HSO freebies to add some variety.

Jack 47 from Sweet Seeds sounds like a pretty good producer. Blue Thai and strawberry Amnesia from Dinafem would probably get pretty chunky as well. Anything sativa dominant that doesn't take too long to finish up is gonna be your best bet in my experience. I saw a picture on icmag one time of an NL5 haze that was absolutely massive. I forget what seedbank it was from though. In the old grow video that Greenhouse Seeds has for Super Silver Haze, there's a part of the video where Eddy Lep is talking about how SSH is "like the Cadillac of outdoor plants" because of its balance of resistance, potency, and yield. Their Himalaya Gold is supossed to get pretty huge as well.

You could look into some of the femmed stuff from ace seeds, theyve got a pretty good reputation around here and the breeders are pretty active on the forum and seem to be really helpful. or inspecta/csihumboldt but i dont know how his stuff yeilds or does outdoors.

That's just what I thought of. Got one finishing indoors and the "Indica" side won (Blue Dream is Blueberry x Haze ?). Very dense, dense enough to make me concerned about mold.

Growing big is one thing, but growing big and dealing with wet conditions is a whole nother matter.

Is this for an area close to the coast, in the 'fog belt', or more inland, where it's drier and maybe folks can cruise a little on the mold front.

Phatty, it's more inland. I don't mind really dense buds if they finish earlier.

Purple Jungle, I grew their Bubba's Gift but the leaves just twisted and gnarled super hard- I let it die.

SilverHazer, thanks for the tips. For some reason I thought Haze's weren't that great for OD?

Krood, I made a post over there, thanks for the tip.

we ran a 5 pack of Critical Kush fem. from Barneys Farm 2 seasons ago. They did well there were 3 pheno's . We found a few seeds from that and last season grew one that ended up pulling just over 2 pounds from just a 15 gallon container. It was in a 15 gallon plastic container with lots of drainage holes it was burried in ground cause of gopher problems. It was only about 6 1/2 feet tall but produced nice dense nugz, ended pulling it 2 weeks early cause of cats. but it was dank for sure. Its supposedly Critical Mass X OG Kush i believe

Silver Haze and Jack Herer have more indica in their genes compared to pure haze, so they do pretty well outdoors. I ran Casey Jones outdoors one year and it did really well.

Never ran it myself, but I've read a lot of good reviews for Critical Jack.

You'll probably have better luck with indicas than I have, since you have inland weather.

Ace fem mix are cheap like 5 for 22$ The Dj short f2 are super cheap on seedbay 24$ for 16 seeds. I pay 15$ at the post office to send my Orders I asked for the cheapest way to send something tracked.

Is yield the only concern? How important is quality?

How about the higher chance of herms from fems? Is that a concern? Im just curious is all. I wonder why femms r so popular.

Chimera might have what you need in femmed form. He made a lot of femmed sweet skunk crosses. Hashplant x ss? Haze x ss? ****Mental floss x ss***** mental floss is commercial yields...

sourpuss, out of 50 HSO green crack, 49 germed, none hermied and all were healthy. Out of 150 a friend had, none hermied. So no it's not much of a concern, so I guess that's why they're popular. You don't need twice the soil, twice the pots, twice the space, and twice the seed.

As far as quality, it would be nice to have something amazing but I need to yield a certain amount to make the time and energy and cost worth it, and I assume any strain from a reputable seed vendor is quality.

Thanks for the chimera tip.. I was looking at their SS crosses so I'll take another look.

Frosty, thanks, I might just get at least 15 to see how they do.

Rolando, thanks for the cheap seed tip.

Feminized seeds are popular for outdoors because you don't have to sex your plants before vegging them out. In my experience once a plant flowers then starts vegging again, that plant has a much higher chance of catching bud rot.

I've been digging around and found out HSO isn't so bad. All of their strains come from the original elite cuts straight from California. Here's a quote from Loompa:

Just wanted to help clear things up. Yes, we have been working with hso. Yes, they are predominantly located in Europe. But every single one of them and the genetics they use are from Humboldt and California. They did make the move to focus on Europe because seeds are legal over there. Now you guys must recognize that the European market is different. The majority of seed sales in Europe due to climates and the local politics for growing, most people want feminized and/or auto flower.

As far as their genetics, all are from the original elite clones. I'm not involved with their breeding, that is their gig. But one way to protect your genetics from European hacks that steal everything is to produce feminized lines also. They don't release any of their breeding stock over there or else it will all get hacked.

Anyone know if the Lemon Thai Kush from HSO also goes by the name "Lemon Tree?" If so, I'm very interested because that stuff is bomb diggity! Pretty similar to OG in effect, a little bit lighter and more uplifting but the smell and taste are to die for. Smells just like leafs off of a lemon tree and the tea you can make from them.

Well time ran out so I just ordered half Green Crack again, and I'm getting blue dream clones I ran last year that were awesome. Other then that I'll have a couple fun ones like SSHxSD, and some freebies: Critical Kush, Liberty Haze, Blue Cheese, and Pineapple Chunk. Not the most fun strains but I know I'll get some fat colas :)
