I found this "weeping" individual in the 2023 evaluations at the USDA germplasm repository. Of 15 individuals from the cultivar 'Neo', only one had this architecture (or lack thereof). The plant was otherwise completely healthy (no obvious pathogens or damage).
No idea why, but it looks like auxin transport and potentially a mutation in the LAZY gene or gravity sensing pathway. Has anyone else ever seen this?
