Never heard of Funki Porcini, but I'll fix that mistake soon :) Bit more Jazz-related off topic, if for some reason you're not familiar with Nujabes check that dude out! A lot of his stuff is jazzy hip hop but there are a lot of other flavors to be found on his records. Sadly no vinyl from Nujabes.

Funki Porcini sounds fantastic so far, thanks man! Now I have to see if his records are available on vinyl..

Edit. Seems like my friend is selling Hed Phone Sex 3LP on discogs, wonder why he never played this for me, this is right up my alley! Rep coming after I spread some love around :)

Too bad they strayed away from the jazz with their later albums. That one is the only one I really listen to, great stuff.

Lol, just called my friend and he'll be over in a couple of hours with that Funki Porcini record along with one Alice Coltrane one, better not listen to anymore before I get my hands on that 3LP. Ninjatune rocks! :D

Another tune that fits the ongoing jazzy relaxation theme:

Last thing on my deck- Susan Cadogan's "Hurts so Good". A 70's Roots cover of an old tune my Millie Jackson. This one bangs from The Black Ark…

Thanks for posting, need to check that one out! :)

It took me 7+ years of Icmag for my 100th post, almost everything I know about weed I learned from here, so I will go hit the bong in honor of IC blasting this tune :

Nujabes feat. Terry Callier - Ordinary Joe

https://youtu.be/vilDJuzlKIw

Some lyrics some of you stoners may relate to :D

Although they say you're just a lazy so-and-so
What they think is real
Is nothing but an animated puppet show
So don't let time and space confuse you
And don't let name and form abuse you

Looks like youtube has got me now, time to take a break from vinyl :)

Yeah the ATHF skits on DangerDoom are pretty painful but the music shines through. Also listening to the Madlib produced Freddie Gibbs album "Pinata", lots of good guests like Danny Brown, Earl Sweatshirt, Ab-Soul etc.

Most of their selection is already gone but Insound is going out of business and have everything for 35% off including turntables on their site

Big thanks to JamieShoes once again for recommending Funki Porcini, I've had Hed Phone Sex for a couple of days now, listening to it atm for the second time all the way through. Great for smoking sessions with friends or alone :)

Rusty, checked out Insounds' catalogue and if they were any closer I would "have to" spend at least 500$ there, so lucky for me they're in the US :D

Yesterday was the first real summer day here and now it's cold and raining again.. So I'm stoned to the gills playing records like always.

This morning I went to a 2nd hand record store and noticed a very cool album cover, turns out it was Funki Porcini, lol weed karma or something? Now on side C, 16 megatons playing and I'm very happy for my 20€ investment and this thread :) But that cover is so inviting I might have purchased this anyway, who knows, or at least asked the owner to give it a spin.

"Madlib, why you waste so much money on records and getting high, man?"
Man, I got no time for silly shit
Throw this record on, pack a bowl, take a hit

Well played Madlib, well played :tiphat: What are you listening Icmag?

Fela Kuti and Ginger Baker, how have I missed that one? I've been looking for Zombie LP (1976) for a long time, that record goes deep with the rhythms! Thanks for sharing, I'll take a look.

Over here things got a little dramatic with my second find of today, Barry Lyndon OST. I love that movie and that theme always ends up playing in my head for days after seeing it so I couldn't resist the 8€ price tag. I really need to get all Kubrick OST's and frame them or something, that would be awesome :)

Georg Friedrich Händel – Sarabande https://youtu.be/91sfrw106xs I don't listen to classical music that much but some music is just too strong to ignore.

I'm using a Rega RP1 turntable as well when at home, Sansui AU5500 on the amp side and a pair of Wharfedale E70, pretty old school one might say but nevertheless this combo sounds good enough for me. Sometimes i think it surpasses the digital AV Linn system (Keilidh speakers) i'm listening to when at work abroad even if i paid about a fraction of the price for the former...
As far the vinyls go no blazing session is complete without Clutchy Hopkins here, Walking Backwards being the favourite

And if things get serious that calls for some massive beer drinking and head banging as in Master of Puppets kind of banging. This album has been the bible of my teen years, haven't listened much of it afterwards but now as i'm getting older i find myself more and more back into it.

On a side note, i just finished reading this biography of Cliff Burton, "To live is to die" by Joel McIver which literally had my in tears by the end of it. It's just amazing to see how much this guy has accomplished by the age of 24, he was nothing short of sheer genius and after his death Metallica just went downhill although their record sales might sugest something else.
Not to mention that unlike James or Lars he was a true pothead, there's a funny story about him swallowing a few grams of black afghani hash when their tour bus was searched by the german customs with sniffing dogs and all that. He spent the following couple of days completely spaced out of his head, next show they had in Amsterdam (oh, the irony) must have have been quite a sight with Cliff having troubles on stage with himself and his surroundings and not being able to stand straight.
As William Irwin once said: "What stood out about Metallica in the early days was their authenticity. Cliff Burton, in particular, was the real deal. This guy made Lemmy look like a pretty boy. I was fortunate enough to see Cliff when Metallica opened for Ozzy. Watching Cliff headbang on stage was like watching man walk upright for the first time"

And speaking of dope albums to be had on vinyl, i've been looking all over for this...

maxresdefault.jpg

...and couldn't find it anywhere. I am literally obsessing over this record and would be very grateful to anyone pointing me in the right direction. Funny enough, it has been recommended by someone else on another canna forum a few years ago and every since then i've been listened it for like thousands of times. I just can't have enough of it and so are a few close mates of mine. You have been warned then, this is dope and like dope you'll be craving for it every single day :)
