If you believe the flu kills more people than this virus, you have been grossly misinformed.
In the US flu normally takes about six thousand people a year.
The virus has taken out 200 thousand in a little over half a year.
Basic public health policies work well in the countries which use them.

I find it interesting that you would like to focus on pushing up the average age, while ignoring tragic numbers of the very young being left with what may be severe complications as a result of having been infected.
That maybe easier for you to do, since you are accustomed to having a national health care system to deal with such things. We don't have that here.
650,000 people a year die from the Flu world wide. People are dying of all sorts of things and corona is being putting down as the cause of death. It's a scam mate, I know someone who was dying of cancer had COPD as well. The drs said when he passed it was corona, Even his family said they was wrong. You can be tested here in the UK if you are positive for corona, But 6 months later get run over or whatever. The Dr's will say cause of death corona. Believe me I am 1000x times more informed as yourself, I suggest you Turn off the fear Box and put down the new papers, And do some real research

No, doctors are not putting all other deaths down as coronavirus. In many cases that would cost them a lot of money because things like cancer pay out way more from insurance. That nasty rumor is just being spread by accelerationists who are hell-bent on burning down everything.

People living in England have become increasingly concerned in the face of Public Health England’s (PHE) figures demonstrating a relentless daily toll of more than a hundred COVID-associated deaths several days a week (see Figure 1).
This is in stark contrast to the more reassuring recovery in neighbouring regions (Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland), where there are days with no COVID-associated deaths whatsoever.
One reason for this due is a statistical flaw in the way that PHE compiles ‘out of hospital’ deaths data, rather than any genuine difference between the regions of the UK:
“Linking data on confirmed positive cases (identified through testing by NHS and PHE laboratories and commercial partners) to the NHS Demographic Batch Service: when a patient dies, the NHS central register of patients is notified (this is not limited to deaths in hospitals). The list of all lab-confirmed cases is checked against the NHS central register each day, to check if any of the patients have died.”
Here, it seems that PHE regularly looks for people on the NHS database who have ever tested positive, and simply checks to see if they are still alive or not. PHE does not appear to consider how long ago the COVID test result was, nor whether the person has been successfully treated in hospital and discharged to the community. Anyone who has tested COVID positive but subsequently died at a later date of any cause will be included on the PHE COVID death figures.
By this PHE definition, no one with COVID in England is allowed to ever recover from their illness. A patient who has tested positive, but successfully treated and discharged from hospital, will still be counted as a COVID death even if they had a heart attack or were run over by a bus three months later.
This why the PHE figures vary substantially from day to day. For example, 16 new deaths were announced on 6th July, but the following day, 152 were reported – today’s figure is 66.
PHE data also confirm that more than 125 000 patients have been admitted to NHS hospitals for COVID, the majority being successfully treated and discharged. There are now less than 1900 patients in hospital. So, roughly 80 000 recovered patients in the community will continue being monitored by PHE for the daily death statistics. More and more people (who are mainly in the older age group) are being discharged to the community, but they clearly may die of other illnesses.
This is why ‘out of hospital setting’ deaths remain constantly high (Figure 1), even though the Office of National Statistics data shows there have been fewer deaths than the five year average in the last three weeks, and NHS England data shows a moving average of 19 deaths per day in hospital.
It’s time to fix this statistical flaw that leads to an over-exaggeration of COVID-associated deaths. One reasonable approach would be to define community COVID-related deaths as those that occurred within 21 days of a COVID positive test result.
In summary, PHE’s definition of the daily death figures means that everyone who has ever had COVID at any time must die with COVID too. So, the COVID death toll in Britain up to July 2020 will eventually exceed 290k, if the follow-up of every test-positive patient is of long enough duration.

If you have COPD (or another underlying medical issue. Take your pick) and get Covid, chances are pretty good you're a goner.
I have family members who are in the medical field (Dr. and Nurses) and they say it's simple disinformation. And I'll listen to a medical pro before a conspiracy theory developed in someone's armchair.

so today i went for my 6 month check up for the lung infection and hearing loss i suffered at the beginning of this year. the doctor there really surprised me by being quite vehement that this whole covid thing is being exaggerated.
when i talked about some long term problems that are now being talked about, he said getting sick will do that sometimes, even a flue can cause long term damage. he literally said that wearing masks all the time is not good, moisture causes fungi in the cloth which you then breath through instead of getting fresh clean air.
i told him that if he said those things on facebook he'd be deleted and this 50 year old, throat and nose specialists just shook his head saying i know.
i love the Swiss, we are so logical and down to earth.
to be honest i was quite surprised. even the lady that did my hearing tests said i could take off my mask if i wanted, although they have signs saying everyone must wear masks, lol.
its so strange, you get people so afraid and you have the opposite and no one really knows who's right. probably the truth is somewhere in the middle. ie its dangerous if you are old and or sick.
according to the nurse doing my hearing test, the test being used to diagnose positive cases has only a low accuracy rate and the guy who made it said it shouldn't be used as a diagnostic.
the msm also reported in the US that their numbers are worthless if anyone was paying attention.
further more some quarter of the deaths caused were in NY, cause by coumo sending positive elderly back to infect all the other elderly in their homes.
