Water wand and pump

Whatever you do use for this I would suggest plugging the electric part into a CFI plug or breaker. We mix water and electricity all to often in questionable situations and or close quarters. Try to incorporate some risk management into the design.

Me personally I put a good size aquarium pump into a 55 gallon heavy duty trash can on wheels. At the end of the water hose I put the cap from a watering can to disperse the force. I put a screw through the hose inside the cap and put the lid back on. I then plug the pump into a surge protector for easy off and on. For short turn offs I just kink the hose.

I have a pump that sits in a 40 gallon trash can filled with water. The pump connects to a tube, that connects to a 1/2" piece of PVC. The pumps power is interrupted by a foot pedal. Water only comes out when the foot pedal is pressed. simple as pie. All can be bought at Home depot.

Nevermind... I just realized this thread is like 2 years old. How the hell did you guys find this one?

I'm no expert, and it's just my opinion, but it seems the anti-siphon elbow wouldn't help much. In fact it could quite possibly hinder things. more things to go wrong, and more things to mess with. The Pump + tube + Wand, (controlled by some switch) works fantastic for me.

Also, if you bought a wand from the store and you connect a garden hose to your 250GPH pump, you will be in for a unpleasant surprise; The pressure will be unsatisfactory, and water won't push it out of the nozzle properly. Our little submersible pumps run nowhere near the volume of a standard garden hose. PVC wands work well.

Who knows, it might work for you. I tried and was disappointed. Either way, I hope it works out for ya.

Good Luck.
