Water proof floor with pond liner

Ever thought of using pond liner AS a rez? A giant on floor ebb and flow would be pretty cool.

Rez made out of plywood sitting under table. Rez was too small and dismantled it this morning in favor of two large commercial rubbermaid containers. If you were going to do this I would make sure you use pressure treated wood. I had some water on the floor while testing all the tables. When I pulled this rez apart I found the wood to be wet and moldy. I found it to be a PITA as the liner bunches up in the corners and probably would have made it tough to clean later on. What I spent on the liner alone, I could have bought the container

Hey pico! I was just researchng the cost forr doing this yesturday, cause I am sick of messes. I am on concrete as well but the mess would be nice to consolidate since i'm sick of walkin on panda plastic, ripping tearing and replaceing.....online I found a 10 x 15 piece for about 60 bucks delivered. Its not very expensive...I will have some going in about 2 weeks from now :) should help seal my room better to :)

It may be thinner than what Home Depot sells. At HD its a $10.xx a foot (15 feet wide). So your 10x15 piece would be around $100

Those DIY ebb flow tables look pretty slick man. Thanks for posting up those photos. I still like my pre-made ones since I am always moving stuff around. But being able to do custom sizing would be nice.

They are 11x4, which as far as I know you cant make with pre made tables

To be honest, in the future I would probably go with the pre made tables, on some 2x4's on cinder blocks. This was too much work. And like you, in the future I plan on moving things around so this is out of the question

well a 4x6 and a 4x4 would come out to around 4.25 x 10.5 so that is pretty close for premade.

I would probably go with 2x8s not 2x4s to hold up the tables.

hey pico, what is the name of the white stuff on your walls in that room?

I have been trying to figure out the exact name of it... is it panda plastic?

For some reason I was thinking of 4x8, then couldnt make the last 3 feet since they dont do 4x3 that I know of. I was also trying to get pretty close measurements as I was squeezing in as much as I could.

live and learn. Hopefully in 4-5 months I will have the $$$ to do something different. But my next idea involves getting this out of my house and into some enclosed trailers like for cars/motorcycles or like the the lawn guys use. 2-3 of those on some 30-40 acres. easy to move, etc but one thing at a time

wayne- I call it black and white poly. I have also heard is called panda film.

yamaha- I have a huge triple axle cargo trailer like you are talking about. I have been thinking I could fit 5-10 lights in there. The other thing that is cheaper are those cargo containers. You can buy them for a couple grand, or rent them for under a $100 per month. Some out the people that do outdoor around here rent containers and put propane heaters in there to dry harvest.

but what happens when you want to move it? I was thinking of 3 trailers, 2 for flowering, 1 for vegging and to keep a generator. I have a dually so pulling them is no issue. Buy some land, 30-40 acres putt he trailers on them, voila. 3 months later, buy some more land., move trailers.

definitely using this method to protect the hardwoods. simple and effective, just the way i like to do things.

Pice, you ever have to make a seam since the pond liner wasnt big enough to cover the room? If so, what did you use, just silicone?

Hello,
I Was A Roofer For 30 Years & I Have Seen Many Different Forms Of Waterproofing. Go To A Roofing Wholesaler & Tell Them What You Need To Do They Will Have Stuff You Can Brush On & Stuff You Can Trowel On. If Your Good Enough You Can Use 1-Ply Torch Down. They Also Have 1-Ply Cold Application.

Thank You

Pico,,,,hello and how are you?

I'm hoping you're still around.

Thanks for the generous sharing of so much good knowledge through all of your threads.

This is an off thread question but one I don't see addressed in any forums,,not yet anyways.

What do you do about your electric bill?

Some people will mention generators but that is more involved than it sounds I think.

I am running 1k + a 400 for vegging. My bud room could handle 3k from above.

i don't mind the extra wattage for fans and dehueys.etc it is the structured, timed hid footprint on my smart meter and then the size of my elec. bill.

I live in the country and my bill has been steady for quite awhile. ( including my 1k ). If I added even 1 more light my bill will jump. I heat with gas and just have never had a big bill. $50 for a long time and now $100.oo with what I'm doing now. Another lamp plus the 400 on more to supply, and the air cond,,,you know, all the extras that add up. So, if I wanted to go bigger, what to do?

Any suggestions or comments?

peace

TREE KING

great thread theres just a couple things im confused about.

whats the point of putting the wood up in front of the wall? i understand putting it up where the wall isnt but if the liner is getting stapled to the wall anyway than whats the wood for?

also is there any way to do this without destroying the wall putting staples through it? im about to put up pond liner in my attic and im trying to not destroy anything

pico hasnt posted in like a month so hes probably not around if anyone else can help me out i would appreciate it

My pond liner, which I installed 5 years ago, is up with 2 sided tape under the liner and Gorilla tape on top. Stays in place. Once in a great while, I have to mash the tape in a place or 2, but basically no problems. Good luck. -granger

Sorry, I don't check in here much anymore.

I used the full frame around the room because there was an opening of some sort on 3 out of the 4 walls. one wall had the door, another had a long closet, and another had a sliding glass door. Just made it easy to have one tight frame to keep it all together.
