So starting last night water started dripping from my mini split in my flower room. It was dripping pretty bad all down the wall and pooling on the floor.
I checked the condensate line outside and it was dripping as well so I was kind of stumped. Today I cleaned the fins on the back of the outdoor compressor as they were kind of dirty and thought that must be it.
Went in tonight and it started dripping again. Still dripping from the condensate line as well. I checked for any icing on the unit and that was negative. Checked the filter and it was clean as can be.
Stumped, I started checking google for solutions. What I came up with was it must have a blockage in the condensate line or where the line meets the drip pan in the indoor unit. I really did not want to shut it down and pull it off the wall although I knew if I had to I would.
After a nice bowl and some thinking of the problem, here is what I came up with. I went out and grabbed the condensate line, put it in my mouth and blew air into it until I felt an air bubble surface. I let the line go back into the barrel it normally drains into and low and behold a rush of nasty water came flushing out of the line.
I'm guessing there was a bunch or crud in the drip pan that eventually clogged the condensate line enough to prevent all the water from draining but still allowing probably half the water to drain.
When I blew thru the line it cleared out the gunk and we are running like new.
A little bit luck a little bit genius if I do say so myself.
Hope this can help someone someday from having to call a tech or rip apart there unit chasing this problem.
