WATCH OUT FOR HANNA COMBO GROCHEK!

Can't tell ya how pissed I am at Hanna...

Had an issue where the pH was way outta wack - so added pH up to get it back in line and the more up I added the LOWER the pH went.

Hanna Combo Grochek - HI991404/HI991405
This is a monitoring probe that sits in the rez at all times.

Called Hanna - They said, "The probe is NOT water proof!!!! and since it's been submerged it went bad, 80.00 please for a replacement...."

I am fucking floored... it says right on the box water proof! I know the pens say that too and arent but I figured what dumb ass company would make probes that are NOT waterproof but ARE meant to be left in the rez 24hrs a day.

Just wanna pull an office-space on this fucking waste of money.... :cuss:

Did you ask them why they marked the package for the probe says "waterproof". I'd take it back to hydrostore and demand refund. I've used a few Nutrdrip meters, they seem to work fine.

Best Regards

Yea, already made all the phone calls I could....

And even though it's cleaned every 30 days, calibrated every 30 and taken care of like it was worth 1k....the response I got back was, "Wow, your probe lasted 9 months...that's really good and you shouldnt be so concerned...most have a lifespan of 6 MONTHS!!!"

Sadly, being told all this bullshit now doesnt save me the cash needed to replace the fucking probe. Shitty hydro gear.

Wow, good to know.

I almost bought one some time back for my recirculating DWC run.

So if they're not waterproof, then how exactly are they supposed to sit in the rez? Just dipped half-way, rather than submerged completely? Do the instructions tell you this?

I always assumed you just submerge the probes.

That SUCKS!!!!

I find their lack of customer service sensitivity jaw dropping.

the grocheck's have been know to be some of the worst combo meters available right now.

Wow I'm so glad I didn't buy one. On paper they look pretty nice for the price.

So can anyone explain this submersible / waterproof thing on the probes? Exactly how do they recommend you use it?

Mine broke after month and couldn't get it fixed or a refund $150 right down the fucking drain... well, they lost a potential life time customer from me.

Huh, I have the same meter and it works just great for me. Throw it into the res, plug it in and away we go. Of course it's waterproof, it's a continuous meter. I would take it back to the hydro store and see if you can exchange for a working meter

Arkaya, I was very close to buying one, but I saw several reports of people confirming them not to be waterproof, obvious as it may seem they should be. Seeing this makes me very glad I didn't get one.

I also have a hanna combo that has just screwed me over. I grow hydro and have been going at it w/ no pH meter for the past week. The tds part works great and has from day one , its the pH part that doesnt seem to work great at all. Seems it doesnt stay caliabrated , oh and I already replaced the probe on it once and its only been thru 1 run so far.

Whats the best meter to by? which name brand?
I've always bought hannas as I thought they were the top ones in the meter biz but someone has to be better. I've gone thru 6 pH meters in only 5 grows, wtf am I doing wrong?lol

those combo's rock man...if used correctly .....after every use rinse them and put in store solution ...(but not the TDS side) and then put cap on for drying out the probe...and after a week/month of use put it in cleaning solution and you'll use it up for over a year with 1 probe...well ime that is....

bought it on ebay for 125$ i think....
