WARNING: HYDROHUTS TOXIC!! GOING OUT OF BUSINESS

I do not want to create another full thread since there is already one in Cannabis Infirmary located here.

To summarize, Hydro Huts will no longer be manufactured or sold due to a toxicity issue. The word "lead" has even been thrown around. Apparently the President of International Growers Supply, the makers of HydroHut has been lied to by manufacturers in China about what material is being used to make the poles for a HydroHut. Tons of people are having issues growing ANYTHING in the huts.

They WERE giving free poles to replace the toxic ones but I was told today they will no longer be doing that as they are unsure it will fix the problem.

So anyways, just an FYI for all you HH users out there. Go easy

hmm, so they going out of business? i have a hydrohut 2x4 and i had minor growing issues? but then again shit started looking bad? i dunno if it was the hut or my part,i had a 250 watt mh that was prducing heat like a mofo!with 2 fans in side the hut & bout 6 plants,i realy never had the hut sealed beacuse i never had proper ventialtion. it was mostly openen one flap with a fan blowing in next to the window.

well im going to see what happens when i put a tek light 8 bulb in there for a short period of time.

lets see here now that ive read this makes me wonder what level of lead is in the black n white poly. zillions of toys made in china where pulled from us store shelves for high levels of lead the blk/wht poly can be like a mirror

notice the plants reflection on the white side of the poly. no light except the cams flash was used picture was taken just before lights on

guys this is not the same as the HOMEBOX right I veg in the HB no problems just like to know.

So the poles have lead how can one test. ?? Maybe if I wrap the poles in tape it would diminish the possibility of lead touching the plants.

I have 2 originals and a kd and haven't had any issues. So it is just the deluxe that has this problem? That doesn't make much sense since the poles are the same size for the original and the deluxe (I thought).

Where did this info come from? Thanks

s0cK3y3 - please can you be more careful with your phrasing, you can make a lot of people worry real quick with a title like that.

Yes there has been a problem identified with some HydroHuts. It has not been established whether this affects all HydroHuts so if you have a hydrohut please read more about the problem and check out your Hut.

This doesn't mean it pertains to all grow tents. I've heard of no problems with the HomeBox and BudBox tents.

For more info check out this thread - http://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=77070

If you have a good HH or a bad HH, please make it known in here and you can help sort out the problem.

ALL YOU HAVE TO DO (IF YOUR WORRIED) IS TO WASH THE POLES IN WARM WATER AND SOAP!!!! NO BLEACH JUST DISHSOAP(ANTIBACTERIAL SOUNDS BETTER)RUB!!!! WITH A RAG!!! ITLL RUB THE LEAD OFF ITS ON THE PAINT ON THE POLES!!!!YOU CAN WASH THE POLY IF YOU FEEL BETTER BUT ITS LEAD IN THE PAINT ON THE POLES!! PVC POLES MIGHT NOT SUPPORT THE WEIGHT 80 SCH WILL THOUGH!

-my friend had this issue, only with his delux 4X8 his 4x4 mom and kindergardens are fine.

hydrohuts never said that they were going out of business! Thats BS!!! They never talked about lead!! More BS!! You guys should pay attention to what they heck you're saying. Jeez! And, for all you consiracy theory geniuses, check out the UK 420 board-- Europe has the same problem with its tents and the hut aint sold over there! Homebox is, Budbox is.

since the origional thread in the infirmary was closed, I will ask this here..

Has anyone wo owns a Hydrohut recently had health problems?
More specificly, pain or pressure in their head?

I have one of these in my bedroom, at the foot of my bed where I veg motherplants. Early Dec. I got this headache, mild, but it got worse. It's still around and hurts 24/7. This is my concern, dudes. My head hurts and I wonder if this is a possible cause. I have had a HH in my bedroom for a little over 18 months.

PM me if your head hurts, and you sleep in a room with a hydrohut. :(

Wow, glad I stuck with formaldehyde in the engineered wood products and built my own rooms out of OSB and 2x4's. I'd go get a blood test Nep and ask that it be checked specifically for lead levels if you really feel this could be related. Better safe than sorry.
