MAGA hats, sitting in a box in an antique shop in southwest Virginia. a veritable stronghold of Chump supporters, offloading their MAGA hats. i thought about buying one for my Halloween costume this fall, but they aint worth the dollar they were asking...😏 it WOULD have paired nicely on display with the NRA hat i kept after finding out exactly how corrupt current leadership there is, or the Teamsters cap...🙄

I was wandering in a thrift shop and found an oil painting, smaller, on canvas. Piad the 3 bucks for it and after having a friend who is the local framer and authority on paintings look at it, she dated it to 1865 by some marks on the frame and painting. She then valued it at 3k. So I sold it to her for 2k and that my friends is my best thrift store score.

.........sitting in a box in an antique shop in southwest Virginia. .........

The stolen Renoir painting (1952) was allegedly 'found' in a box in another antique shop in Virginia in 2011. I knew the perp. I know alla the dirt the FBI never discovered, the really juicy stuff! ;)

..... once found a Thomas Hart Benton print AND a Hasui at the same time.

:D:good: The Wife, huh? :whistling:

she would cheerfully quit teaching & go with me on that voyage of discovery, lol... teachers are treated like shit in nearly every state in this country. they do, quite possibly, the most important work there is, and are expected to do so with much less than they need. nearly all of them spend money out of pocket for paper, pencils etc for the kids in their classes here in east Tennessee. it's a job you do because you know it is critical and you love kids, not something you do because you'd like to be rich...

I'll never forget finding a Russian bayonet in an antique store when I was a little kid. I've been a fan ever since lol.

I grew up in thrift stores of Virginia.. my mom owned a used furniture and thrift shop for 35 years. Definitely saw some treasures come through their, in the later years the treasures would go on eBay. Literally so many crazy items that it's hard to pick one. There were no million dollar items, or at least that we knew of..
the most interesting Was all the many very interesting characters over the years.
There was the dude that was caught jerking it to a playboy in the basement library.
The lady that believed that pickles grew on a tree. We said there was "bush varieties" of cucumbers but they do t grow on trees. She said who's talking about cucumbers I'm talking about pickles.. the green things.. "
The guy that always wore a fur lined coat, even in 100 degree summers.
Most eccentric of all were the antique dealers that would buy in our store and then resell in their antique stores..
Those fuckers were crazy. One wouldn't cross border of city limits. Imaginary lines terrified him.
One lady grew up in southern 1940s Fredericksburg Virginia. Instead of talking hick like the locals, she spoke with a slight fake French accent. For the customers she said.

Stolen Renoir, Russian bayonet's, but where's my 1978 bamboo bong?

Come to think of it, I never see old bongs in antique shops. Bought a nice old Laos opium pipe though.

Nice Squall! You might be surprised how many there are out there.my buddy has an AK with a bayonet.nice gun too

the Russian AKs are much higher quality weapons than those from China, chrome plated barrel to prevent rust from corrosive primers etc.

Some of the people that help me with physics stuff, people with formal Nuclear education, also collect Uranium Glass.

Sort of like Black Light in 3D.

I'm tempted to ask "does anybody have a Uranium glass water-pipe" but a lot of them have heavy duty security clearances and aren't into Pot.

Cool glass stuff though. The ceramic stuff is normal looking, it just sets off radiation detectors.

all of the Soviet satellite nations built them, much as folks in Pakistan & Afghanistan do even now. i'd take an AR myself. folks serving in viet nam say that MANY lives of GIs were spared because the safety on an AK sounds like popping the top on a can of beer when you flick it off. impossible to do quietly. ruins a perfectly good ambush...
