Walmart sucks anyway with all their Chinese junk that breaks down in a few months. Buy Chinese and buy again and again. buy American and don't worry about replacing it. I'd rather buy something made in the US and rebuild or remanufacture it myself, it'll last much longer than that shit they're peddling. Too bad for the guy that got fucked though. The last time I bought something there was in "07", I purchased a $750 computer and a $300 chinese stereo and they both quit working in less than a year.NOT AGAIN!!!!

I worked for the monster for a lil while...wanna shut a wal-mart down...just go into one, and start handing out UNION flyers and talking to employees about it...they'll shut the store down and kick everyone out tell they find the source of TRUTH...seriously try it it works wonders.

Nobody likes walmart...but they are an enormous corporation, and simply put, the easiest, most cost-effective way for such a large business to "weed out" (no pun intended) the bad employees is with basic drug testing. Yes, it sucks, but frankly anybody who isn't willing to quit smoking for a month in order to get a necessary job wasn't going very far in life to begin with, dig? If you're going to boycott walmart (no big surprise there, as everybody on this site seems to want to boycott anything that looks at em wrong) find one of many really solid reasons for doing so, not just "they fired somebody for pissing dirty!" (duh?) and "they're money-grubbing pigs!" (this is a capitalist economy, you know...)

Just another corporation trying to manage risk. It seems like they should have to prove the MMJ had something to do with impairment related to the accident. It seems to me an attorney could provide some support and pressure Walmart on this on the grounds that MMJ stays in system for days or weeks. Further, it's possible perhaps to build the case that Walmart contributed to the accident via unsafe work conditions, who knows. At any rate, it should be up to the corporation to prove levels of MMJ were sufficient and recent enough to be a factor.

dosen't matter

Look, right or wrong, whether it has to do with MM or not none of this matters in Michigan anyway. Michigan is a "fire at will state", despite federal anti-discrimination law and state law in this state any company can fire whom ever, when ever, without cause, unless your under contract, ie. union member.

That's right Wallmart, Meijer, or any other can fire you any time because your black, a women, or whatever else because simply they don't have to provide any reason for termination.

Now in theory they can't fire you under protected statues but in such a case they become the defendant and the full burden of proof is put on the plaintiff. Thus if your the terminated employee you must prove 100% beyond a doubt that the only reason you where fired was because of your protected statues. Very, very difficult to do since they can simply say your services where no longer needed even if they told you at the time they don't like xy or z's working here.

You pretty much have to have them on tape saying your fired because we don't like women, gays, blacks, jews, what ever.

Long story short I was involved in such where in all common sense and many apparent examples of discrimination existed within the company. The employee had standing documented glowing employee reviews to boot. Without that smoking gun the lawyers still wouldn't touch it.

Here's one to chew on for you to consider just how hard a case may be. The construction industry is one of the largest sectors of employment in the United States period. Meaning (now I'm just throwing numbers here for illustration, there not accurate but) take a 100 million population and there's more construction workers than there are of any other occupation in that pool. Sharing the top 5 employment fields may be manufacturing, health care, and agriculture.

By theory to not be discriminatory the pop. employed in any one field should be representative of the population as a whole ie. there should be 50% female employment in all fields. You get the idea and say ok sure but there's just more women that go into health and fewer into ag. Right, and the numbers can be played with but the point being I've been in heavy commercial construction for 15yrs., job sites that encompass 100 tradesmen, say I'm on 1 different site a year that's 1500 people. Now out of 1500 people I can count on 2 hands the number of women I've worked with. Even better out of that 1500 shouldn't I have seen at least one guy just one in a wheel chair, or a leader dog for the blind, or on oxygen or some with some other sort of handi cap? I've never seen 1. Now pool our collective knowledge and how many have even heard of a successful handicap discrimination suite against any construction company?

Pretty much the Wallmart guy is piss out of luck

If you live in Michigan you should be shopping at Meijer anyways, fuck wal mart!

Can you test positive and work at Myers in Michigan? I don't like Walmart, but half the reason is that they employ the almost unemployable. Same as any retail outlet, except I believe Walmart pays some of their brain dead workers a little too much. :)
