I've read the entire proposal many times:

http://www.voterguide.sos.ca.gov/pdf/english/text-proposed-laws.pdf

(c) “Personal consumption” shall not include, and nothing in this act shall permit, cannabis:
(1) Possession for sale regardless of amount, except by a person who is licensed or permitted to do so under the terms of an ordinance adopted pursuant to Section 11301.
(2) Consumption in public or in a public place.
(3) Consumption by the operator of any vehicle, boat, or aircraft while it is being operated, or that impairs the operator.
(4) Smoking cannabis in any space while minors are present.

all this says is that 19 DOES NOT AUTHORIZE smoking around kids. There is NO NEW ADDED LAW or anything...just that 19 does not cover smoking around your kids. You think this is wrong? I've been smoking over 30 years and raised a few kids...not once did they ever see me get high.

Also...I saw your "if a 17 wants to fuck a 50yr it's ok" statement.

If I ever found out a 50yr had sex with my 17 year old{mine are older now} I would take my shotgun and blow off their fucking head. Once we were bowling and I noticed a kid about 20 talking and flirting with my daughter who was 17. I walked up and said she a little young for you. He looks at me and says "What are you her Dad or something?" I'm sure getting his face slammed into the corner of a fire extinguisher box changed his perverted ways. If not at least some good dental work done.

Hey dude you are WRONG! Have you EVER lived in CA? We are discussing CA laws here, not your pals the FEDERAL DEA.

California parents hippies or no are NOT subject to having their children taken away over weed.

To say that currently CA has a problem with MJ smoking around kids is a lie. Remember 28 or so years ago "Fast Times at Ridgemont High"? Well Californian's attitude towards weed is pretty mellow AND there are NO LAWS against smoking weed in front of kids.

Prop 19 would change that for the worse and NOTHING you can say about the DEA or other pigs will make that statement untrue.

:joint:

Feds don't recognize Med my friend. The only way for the Feds to ever recognize med or mj legalization in any form is to put the heat on them and force the issue through legislation such as Prop 19. Far as I'm concerned you're either dumb or DEA bro. Either way your full of shit ---- and yup I have the right to vote on Prop 19 if that is what you're asking. My vote is a resounding yes.

why could you not smoke in your backyard?
is your property not private?

Please forgive me as this is a wiki reference, not sure if this is the actual language in the bill.

wiki said:
Legalization of personal marijuana-related activities

* Persons over the age of 21 may possess up to one 1 ounce (28 g) of marijuana for personal consumption.

* May use marijuana in a non-public place such as a residence or a public establishment licensed for on site marijuana consumption.

* May grow marijuana at a private residence in a space of up to 25 square feet for personal use.

now lets look at the dictionary def of residence

dictionary said:

2.

3.
the act or fact of residing: during his residence in Spain.
4.
the act of living or staying in a specified place while performing official duties, carrying on studies or research, awaiting a divorce, etc.

Maybe I am just being paranoid. But last I checked my front porch or garage with the door open are clearly visible from the street, and lord knows the neighbors don't want their children to be exposed to seeing me wife and I take pulls from the bong.

Since you seem to be very active in this thread and on the topic, would you mind posting the language of the bill that states that I am free to smoke anywhere on my personal property? If you already have, my apologies.

If that is the case, I would vote for the bill. To me, if I can't smoke a j in my yard then its not even close to being legal.

read the actual prop.

it does not say "residence" or only in the bathroom on tuesdays at 3:38 pm.

it says "not in a public place" meaning technically no smoking at a phish show (like anyone would go to one of those) but your not allowed to toke up there now. somehow i dont think that is stoping anyone now...

big bud bill once told me an interesting story about Budweiser and bud at a ball game.
bill care to share with the group?

I have already said that i would vote no, but now that you guys have clearly stated that I can get drunk until I pass out infront of my kids, but I can't smoke infront of them then I would restate the fact that no is still my answer. Why can't we smoke infront of our kids if it is "legal" as you say it will be? I live in a marijuana community. Everyone smokes, very few drink. This would not fly here as everyone smokes whenever and wherever. No ones kids thinks its any different than drinking a beer. Except that alcohol kills, and marijuana does not. If you vote yes then you are saying that alcohol is ok to drink around kids, but marijuana is wrong to smoke around kids. This sends the wrong message to the children. Alcohol is deadly. Marijuana is not. I would rather have pothead kids then drunk kids. This will set a dangerous precident for our country. I hope to god this bill does not pass as the rest of the country will follow this horrible bill. Once taxes are enacted they are never repealed. If you start out with not being able to smoke in your own house with your kids present then that will always be there. What politician in thier right minds would say they support trimming the states tax revenue, and also allowing adults to consume this "legal" drug around children. I don't think they would ever be reelected. If this does pass I can't wait for all of the regret posts that we will see in the coming year. 2012 is the year! Fuck prop 19 in the ass with an a.i.d.s. infected dick!

P.S. Before all of you motherfuckers say "prove that 2012 is the year and that this one is not". Please use your god damn heads and realize that the repubs are out in force this year to boot out all of the supporters of the black guy that has highjacked the whitehouse. In 2012 all of the black guys supporters will want him back. It is a very well known fact the his supporters will support a marijuana bill much more so then the repubs will this year. That is why Richard Lee was told not to do this bill this year because it will be easier to pass a less restrictive bill in 2012. The 2012 bill was already planned. Hopefully this will not pass and they can continue to go ahead with that plan. I can not beleieve that everyone does not know about the 2012 bill. Call richard Lee and ask him. Call Steve diangelo and ask him. Call George soros and ask him. Then you will see that this was not suppose to happen, but richard thought he would get more greedy.

P.S.S. I used the term "black guy" and "highlacked" to illustrate the anger and racism of the republican party. I in no way am angry or racist. Ok, I am angry that people want to vote for this, but i am not racist. :)

Do you honestly think that if Prop. 19 fails that we'll have the political will to run it again in 2012? Every prohibitionist on the planet will be pointing the 19s failure saying 'See? Even those crazy Californians don't support legalization!'

Also, regarding those who won't consider it legalized until there are no restrictions on its use - It may help to look up the difference between 'legalization' and 'decriminalization'; Legalization, by its very definition, involves regulation. Decriminalization is the 'tomato' model - Anyone, anywhere, anyhow. And that isn't going to pass in a million years.

once this prop get's in (if it ever does)......I'm sure your local coppers won't be having some sort of neighbourhood sweep to see if they can catch someone harmlessly toking a spliff in their driveway.....

....don't they have more pertinent things to do?

Ozark: your statement is false. If your kids don't think there is anything wrong with it in your weed tolerant community then nothing will change with this law. Their opinion is obviously not clouded by current unjust laws. Anyways, obviously i'm not trying to convince you just show the fallacy in your argument. There is a term for it but i'm too baked right now to remember what it's called.... not a red herring...some kind of negative.

peace.

as soon as 19 passes obama will activate the chip in richard lee's head. richard lee will then grow out the monsanto developed GMO strain that causes anyone who smokes it to be under subliminal control by certain keywords. then the rothschilds can use the jew run media to control all smokers thus making them turn themselves in for smoking in public. the end goal being to fuel the industrial prison complex.

maybe?

smoking around children is whack if you ask me. also to fully understand this way of life isn't really fair to them as well. how many adults do stupid shit, ie have the wrong conversation with someone, then that person in custody blabs and before you know it, task force is kicking in your door.
all it take is one conversation with the wrong person, then that wrong person gets in trouble at school, blabs to principal, next thing you know CPS & Task Force at your door. just seems to unfair to place security issues with kids, thus I'll never fully understand why people take that risk, when they have the power to prevent it from being an issue.

the kid objection, now they're really reaching for anything:biglaugh:

Your kids can be in the house, but not in the same room WHILE YOU ARE SMOKING-- You honestly think that is a bad idea??
It is already like that for 215 Patients!!
I had CPS at my house because a "Concerned Parent" called on me, and they looked at my garden, talked to my daughter...and the only thing they were concerned about was if I was smoking with her in the same room-- When they found out that was not happening, they put a copy of my Rec in my file, telling me, "So we won't waste our time with this again."
Once again, do you honestly think that the Law will or should ever say, "Go ahead and blow hits in your kid's face."??
Sheesh!!
If your kids are older, and you want to smoke with them...it will be the same as if you wanted to drink alcohol with them...Illegal, but who the fuck is gonna know, unless you or them tells??
