Hi all, it's a while since i've done a grow thread...a couple of months ago i was offered a promotional light from HGL's new passively cooled range in return for a grow thread - so here goes.

This is a new micro cab made from a small chest of office drawers.
I've kept it as a simple duct in, duct out system so that i can move it around and chain it with some of my other cabs
exhaust vent out the top:

and inlet at the bottom of the back:

here is the cab with drawer open. as you can see i removed the two upper drawers to make space for the plants and then fitted the drawer fronts back on. Growing height from drawer to light is just 16 inches./ 41 cm

View from above showing vent holes. there is a gap under the drawer to allow the air to get in from the back inlet vent

and some plants..
Here we have a small growing 'bed' and two bubbas, one pre-98 and one katsu cut. The soil is my recycled organic mix, re-amended with gypsum, compost and neem seed meal.

in the sunshine, just planted up:

Cool looking light was just about to ask what you got going on ladywise but seen as you posted before I asked the question it all looks and sounds nice,:tiphat:

Some finishing touched are needed for the cab. I need to mount a little computer fan in there asap, certainly before flowering starts.. and the ventilation will get changed around when i build another cab shortly...more about that later. I need more capacity to try and further my breeding projects.

more soon,

Thanks! Yes i really need to use passive (silent) lights these days so was pleased to get the offer to try this out.
Also i prefer when the diodes are spread as evenly as possible so that box ticked too.

Thanks to everyone for the warm welcome back, i very much appreciate it.

Wow those lights sure are thin. Perfect for a micro application like thos. :lurk:

Yes, for those like me who don't want to get into home-made lights i have found it difficult to find reasonably priced passively cooled ones. Great for stealth as the fans from a few LED grow lights can make quite a bit of noise !
i had a shot of the back of the light i didn't post last time:

6 days in the pant is vegging up nicely. i reckon i will flip it in about another 5 or 6 days.

Glad to see a new micro grow from you! Your scrogs were epic.
Panel looks interesting, maybe a little pricey for a cheap guy like me LOL
Happy gardening:tiphat:

Thanks for the kind words.
I think all decent, ready made LED grow lights are fairly pricey, and needing passively cooled ones cuts down the choice a lot (i'm in UK) but on that scale this one didn't seem too bad.

hookahead, thanks !

Plants were flipped to 12/12 on wednesday, here are a couple pics from then. screen was fitted straight after.
sachets are for thrips, which i have a mild but fairly persistent problem with. I almost think of them as pets now  .
