venting into attic and pink insulation

i just cut a 6" diameter hole through the ceiling into the attic. once i took off the hole i cut, i see the layer of plastic between the ceiling and insulation, and then pink insulation above it. above this pink insulation i know that there is a big layer of loose fill insulation. so what do i do now?

do i put on some gloves and dig a hole with my hands through the insulation for the hot exhaust air to go through? this will form a tunnel where the hot air goes through and into the attic. is it safe to pass hot exhaust air over insulation? the air is really hot as its the air coming off the air conditioner compressor.

or alternately can i just take off the plastic layer and stick my exhaust right into the pink insulation? its not a solid material so i was thinking the hot air would just disperse through it. but im worried about heating it up and causing a fire.

i was trying to avoid having to go up to the attic again as i find massive spiders everytime im up there and just thinking of them hiding in that loose fill has me freaked. if i see one ill panic and fall through the ceiling lol.

Stop being scared and get up there and look around. You're trying to vent hot air up there, right? You might want to get an idea of what could happen to that hot air.

They're just spiders. Grow a pair. :)

lol

i just pulled two layers of pink insulation through the hole and it turns out theres no loose fill over this portion. so that was easy.

im eventually going to have to get up there to attach a carbon filter....

I'm right there with SmokinSHO. I use a piece of rigid ducting for the portion that goes into my attic and through some loose fill. I installed my ducting in a hole that was once used for a light fixture, so there wasn't much fill there to begin with. I have no access to my attic, but that's ok because all I want to do is dump the hot air up there. My filter is in my room, being PULLED through, not pushed through. This is the most efficient way to use an inline fan.
I feel you on the spiders. They could be crawling on your back right now just about to bite you, and you wouldn't know.

Now that you have that big hole in the ceiling, what's to keep the attic spiders from going down into your apartment? Being as the spiders are nocturnal, they could be all over your apartment right now and you wouldn't even know it. ...in your shoes, your underwear, your jackets...

Hey, ya know if you save that piece of drywall you cut out of the hole, it'll make it a lot easier to patch the hole when the time comes.

Let the spiders live!
they might even eat some gnats.

Venting into the attic seems to be a good way
to hide the heat signature of the exhaust
from those flying prying flir leo's.

Make sure the attic ventilation is in perfect
condition so that the moisture doesnt build up.
This is especially important during winters.

PermaBuzz, thank you thank you thank you for mentioning the ventilation/humidity aspect. That might have been a problem. I will have to figure that out. I plan to vent into the house during the winter to use that heat, though, so that would surely help.
Didn't even think about it.
