Hey all...Just thought I'd post a bit about VbXT.

I currently have two going. (Well, sort, kinda two.)

Here's the youngest...she started flowering on November 1, so she's at about day 40. Grown from clone. Very pretty plant!! I should mention that she has been flowered primarily under the 11/13 light regime as an experiment. Hopefully this will not have adverse affects on bud growth and/or potency. Very fond of her!

Just a quick shot - unfortunately, I've been dealing with very serious parental health issues for the past several months so time is very much at a premium.

The second one, I started flowering was from clone. I had some funky nutritional shit go on (I think It's under control now) and she didn't fare well. I thought she'd stretch and branch like crazy. Nope...she grew into a pure lollipop. Straight up, single cola. Nice sized buds - looking dense. I'm thinking of taking her soon - she's at 71 days - still pushing out white pistils though, so we'll see. No pictures of her....Yet. [EDIT - Actually, you can see her single tower rising to the LEFT of the younger plant]

Soon come.

Vietnamese Black x Thai is a 12-14 week flowering plant, 71 days is only 10 weeks of flowering, it will need to go at least another 2 weeks to properly mature.

Why hello mayan..

Glad to see your still growing your lovely sativas out. The vbxt was something I was looking at purchasing but have to stop buying seeds at the moment.

I love that your experimenting with the light regime and hope it turns out a treat for you.

She's looking lovely by the way, very stout and proud..

Good to see you around man and I hope your family issues soon resolve themselves for the better one way or another..

It's a pleasure to see you posting back mayan!

Beautiful Vietnam Black Thai, she's fatty and strong in structure like the Vietnam Black mother. Can't wait to see her and her sister finishing.

We wish the best for you and yours. Take care

Hey, dubi!!! Kalbhairav!!!! g0vnaa!! How nice to see you all!!! Thanks for "stopping by" and for your kind thoughts and salutations.

I realize, in looking at the above snapshot, that the older VbxT actually is in the picture (sort of) - if you look to the left of the younger plant, you will see the single kola wonder.

Hi Cryptlord - thanks for the advice. She ain't going down today or tomorrow, etc. Will probably go another week or two. OTOH, space is at a real premium in my little space so I'm not compelled to keep her much longer. And on top of everything else, I have to be ready to strip down the entire grow at any point due to the health issues raised in the first post. So, whatever extra time/maturity I can get out of her at this point is got with gratitude. Finally, I have been reading with the thread about deep sativas and maturity with avid interest and enjoyment. It's very persuasive and though-provoking about re-thinking "sativic maturity." Recommended reading!!

Looking good mayan!
you will see the single kola wonder.
I have the same thing happen all the time. I always expect those sativas to rocket straight up to the ceiling and leave them in small pots to restrict the roots and end up with the first plants small and yellow. It's the next grow that tells the true story after having some idea what the plant will do and how to deal with it. Looks like you did her perfect the second time around, good luck on the finish.

Hey, Randy - Interesting. Thanks. I actually may have, sorta kinda, a clone of the single Kola pheno. I do intend to grow it out - I'm really hoping it is - I'd like to do her right this time.

Well, time marches steadfastly onwards. Here's the other pheno on day 49.

She's a beaut and coming along swell. I have seen a couple of nanners over the last two days - there may have been a small light leak - but they are huge and easily spotted and plucked. So far they are few and far between. Hopefully, they aren't advance troops - I don't mind taking her a little bit early but I'd like another three or four weeks at minimum.

Her scent right now is lemon with incense. Mmmmmm!

She's a real spectacle mayan!

I think out of the VbxT and the Panama you have going at the moment this would be my choice. Actually, I'm basing this very ignorant opinion on absolutely no current knowledge of either of these graceful sativas.

Maybe you could run me through the two of them? I've heard that the VbxT would be the happier and shorter flowering of the two? What I mean by 'happier' is a less racy noid fest which might incline me to seek respite in a dark room for a month or two ;)

Which is easier to grow etc?

VBT is not so racy. It can be a beautiful plant too. Lots of colors in there during nute flush or black in cold weather. Give her root space (coco) and she explodes!

Panama is more potent though.

I did both as micro grows, VBT in one gal soil as well, and I think Chaco did her in one gal coco.

VBT is my avatar, btw

Hey Zanddar - Hey Kalbhairav - Hey inquest - thanks!!

...was just admiring her...she's starting a whole new round of flowering. Kinda cool how some sativas will do that.

So where does the "black" in Vietnam black come from? I see some little black tips here and there but not sure if that's what is being referred to.

My small sampling so far reveal her to be quite up and happy. She's potent - Panama is more encompassing in some way - like you have no choice but to pay more attention to her - they are lovely compliments t each other.

cold temps! :)

This one was red and gold in warm temps during flush. Black in a freezing cold attic. Literally 30-40 degrees F at night. It probably didn't need to be that cold for the color though. Her sister was still bright green so they wont all do it.

Man I need to break these seeds out again!!

VbxT - Day 74 of 12/1

VbxT - Day 74 of 12/1

Hello, my friends!!

Well, time is passing and she's beginning to show her age. The thing is - her flowering seems to come in continual waves. Just when I think she's giving it up, she starts kicking out pistils again. Still, the pistil production does seem to be slowing down - I'm beginning to think that her time is coming within the next two weeks, at the latest.

Any thoughts on whether this is the Vietnamese leaning or Thai leaning pheno? I'm thinking it's Vietnamese but I wasn't figuring on such baseball bat kolas! These are huge (at least for my modest grow room).

Hey, Kalbhairav!!! How are you doing! Nice to -um- see ya! Thanks for the kind words.

RC!!! They taste great - haven't had 'em for a while. Odor - during cure -on the first pheno- was a clash of perfume and garlic or ramps or something. I had to enlarge my sense of scent to embrace her terpenes. I can't put words on her taste yet - I just remember thinking that they tasted much better than they smelled. OTOH, the high is absolutely great. I was concerned that it wouldn't be that potent - I was wrong. It's strong but it's not a thundering herd of rogue elephants like Zamaldelica or Malawi. It's a strong up. Awake! I'm gonna spend some more time with her over the next period of time.

Hey, inquest - she's being grown in a 3 gallon smart pot in coco. She's under a 1000wt light that's running 11/13.

Flushing has started. She's still spitting out some hairs here or there but whether it's the pheno, the fact that she was grown from clone AND flowered under 11/13, she is beginning to look a bit long in the tooth as she steams ahead into Week 11 of 11/13. Still, she continues to flower in waves so we'll see if she ramps up again over the next few. I think, however, she's a-coming down probably sometime in the next week.
