I am wondering about dual voltage switch on the cps vp6s, when putting in 115v vs 240v is the 115v suppose to be showing to be in 115v mode or is it suppose to be up?

i had a question about not the chamber but the vac itself.

i just found this:

I found a vacuum pump at Harbor Freight. Can I use it with your oven?

Yes, but don’t. These HVAC pumps may seem like a bargain but they are certainly no value.

These pumps are oil-sealed, dual stage rotary vane pumps which are very common in industry. They are not the right choice for solvent extraction or consumable manufacturing:
Everything that is coming out of the vacuum oven goes through the oil that is lubricating the pump. In the solvent extraction application, this means that solvent will be constantly breaking down the oil. These pumps are a disposable commodity in the BHO business.

Oil from the pump can back stream up the lines to the oven. These hydrocarbons can settle on your product causing contamination.

These pumps emit an oil mist that will exhaust into your working environment and deposit on your other equipment and surfaces.

well i bought the pump at harbor freight before reading this. my question is...

how much of this is true???

and if i can use the pump i bought.. what would you recommend i do so i get no oil splash from the vac pump???. i think i saw above about a ball valve but if you can send links on what you mean in specifics that would be cool.

Mrrogers: you'll be fine with a cheepo pump, just put a ball valve between the pump and oven so you don't suck oil into the line when the pump is off.

Most of the industry uses these types of pumps.

Backstreaming oil into the oven generally won't be an issue at the relatively coarse vacuum level you'll be using. A mol sieve or silica trap between the oven and pump will keep water out of the pump oil.
Change the oil often and get a decent vacuum instrument to help with leaktesting and checking pump condition.

New to the site but not the game.

Was doing some research while building my own vac setup and came across the thread. Very informative.

First I am using the cheap harbor fright pump because that is what I could afford. I did get the warranty though.

Not sure if I am happy with the 75 microns and may upgrade after I finish this run and test.

Stainless steel induction cooking pot from target.

3 layers of lexan bolted together and fittings and the rest from home depot.

Pressure gauge from Amazon.

So far after sealing it up and a quick test I had to seal up some leaks. Used a silicone all purpose sealant. We will see how that worked in the morning.

Enough about my contraption. The real reason I wanted to post was to find out if any of you have tried Mz12. Organic methane instead if butane. I switched over a year ago and will never go back.

I don't have the money to have anything tested but the flavor and potency has knocked everyone who tries it out. Supposed to contain no heavy metals and no harmful chemicals. Works better and more efficiently and pulls more turpins and other beneficial chemicals.

I would love to see what any of you thought of it if you give it a go.

Let me know if you have questions, or concerns about my homemade setup.

Thanks
