Using QWISO for butter without evap?

Was just getting ready to make another batch of butter. It's one of my less favorite cannabis chores. It got me thinking...if I took my material and ISO washed it, could I just dump the ISO wash into a pan with a couple sticks of butter on low? Evap the alcohol and get the THC bound to the fat? Will it work? Anyone tried?

Unless alcohol will do something bad to the butter, I can't see why this wont work. I could even do a long ISO wash and just add water to the batch to pull some chlorophyll back out. That would add the cooling step back in though to get the butter back out of the water. Hmm...

No clue, iso may or may not form an azeotrope with compounds in the butter but I kind of doubt it. It should work, but I personally wouldn't do it.

Maybe try a test run first by cooking pure iso and butter to see if the taste of the iso actually cooks out? Or use ethanol instead or methanol?

geo, that's what I was wondering about.

Dark, not a bad idea!

Maj, you nailed it. Better safe than sorry. I was trying to thing of a way to shorten the process even further, but evaping some solvent doesn't take long anyway...

I put mine in a big glass pan and then I put a window screen over it and then I point a fan right on it, makes it evap pretty fast. I do this in the garage with the doors open a little bit.

I know this is an old thread but to those of you still looking for an answer to the OP's question here it is: Yes, you can use QWISO hash before evaporating it provided you do subsequent water washes on the butter, this will remove the alcohol since its water soluble and the thc will be left bonded with the butter, thc has a higher affinity for fat than alcohol because fat is more non polar.
It seems most recipes for cannabutter that use qwiso hash leave out the part about washing your butter with water, in my eyes this is an important step if your going to use isopropyl alcohol to make something that will later be ingested by your buddies/patients, not only will the alcohol smell be gone after the first two hot water washes and an added benefit is alot of the chlorophyll which gives cannabutter the planty taste and green color will be gone.

Anyone interested in a healthy alternative...

Start with making it into hash, then do your extraction with ethanol or crumble the hash straight into the butter. Making Ghee out of the butter first will also make a big difference health wise for most folks. :D

I make ice water hash and use ethanol to clean, or a straight ethanol extraction. I then infuse 5-7 grams of the hash in 113 grams of ghee and bake 30 cookies with it. I hardly vaporize anymore. I have been using cannabis since '72, and the hash cookies are my favorite way to medicate!

Does this type of hash need to be cooked though? I have bho and co2 oil remnants that were extracted from vape cartridges that were leaking or non-functional. Can I simply scrape that residue into a capsule and ingest or does it need the cooking process to activate fully?
I would rather skip the cooking but don't want to waste the reclaimed thc

I would imagine its already decarboxylated since it was inside your vape pen, so cooking wouldn't be necessary you just need to bond it to some kind of fat and ingest that, you could probably put it in a capsule, like the others were saying ghee is the perfect choice, coconut oil is another great choice. But by the sound of it I don't think you really have enough hash oil there to make anything that will significantly hit you but your always welcomed to try and post results.

I don't think it all got heated properly - but some of it is already decarbd when I got it. I would probably give it a quick cook just to make sure anyway but I have about 6 grams so far.
Anybody know how many grams might go in a plate of brownies or the like. The BHO pills is the most straightforward and I may end up doing that but would rather cook it if I can find a general dosing guideline.
I should just do the hard candies I guess I just don't want to go shopping for the equipment. They will have better shelf life.
