Using Marinol with UAs on Probation?

So, my friend told me that if I got a prescription for Marinol, I could use it while on supervised probation. I get drug tested and it would still show up as THC, but this would somehow be allowed because Marinol is FDA approved and it's a prescription not a recommendation.

Is this true? If so, this would be awesome.

This friend of mine also told me, they just took him off of UA's once he showed his prescription for Marinol to his Probation Officer.

Anyone have any info on this one?

No bullshit

No bullshit

That's pretty much what a probation officer told me exactly. There are tests that can differentiate between marinol and thc from cannabis. However no probation office can afford the tests for it to be practical. The exact words I was told was to get a prescription for marinol and I could still use cannabis. Period. I was shocked. Then I tried to get a script for marinol and found out that it's highly controlled and your doctor will want some serious medical issues to prescribe it. After one year I still haven't found one doctor who will prescribe it instead of medical marijuana. Kind of crazy. Hope that helps you.

Marinol is pretty easy to get, it's a schedule 3. I know many docs prescribing it in SoCal for people to pass drug tests at work without revealing cannabis use. It is expensive, like 20 bucks a pill last time I checked, but insurance covers it. I bought a bunch for an extended vacation out of the country. It doesn't really work and can be pretty racy.

So, I got the script for Marinol yesterday..probably gonna fill it soon and then next time I see my PO, I'll present it to him and see what happens, I guess...I guess it couldn't hurt to find out, but from what I've heard and read, I should be good.

It is going great with the PO though, he's really pleased with me and I don't really want to ruin that..and plus, he said he would take me off UA's at a certain point, just not sure when.

Awesome idea lol. We don't have Marinol here in Canada but we have some shit called Nabilone and my bitch doctor at first wouldn't sign my medical cannabis forms but happily gave me a shit load of those pills. They are GARBAGE. No matter how many I would take it did nothing but give me the munchies and if I took a shit load it made me really tired. I guess they would be great for chemo paitents that can't keep food down but weed works way better and is probably much better to be ingesting as opposed to this laboratory made bullshit..

So why not just pay the dues?

Be careful.

Dronabinol, the active ingredient in MARINOL® (dronabinol) Capsules, is synthetic delta-9- tetrahydrocannabinol (delta-9-THC). Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol is also a naturally occurring component of Cannabis sativa L. (Marijuana).

Dronabinol is a light yellow resinous oil that is sticky at room temperature and hardens upon refrigeration. Dronabinol is insoluble in water and is formulated in sesame oil. It has a pKa of 10.6 and an octanol-water partition coefficient: 6,000:1 at pH 7.

Capsules for oral administration: MARINOL (dronabinol) Capsules is supplied as round, soft gelatin capsules containing either 2.5 mg, 5 mg, or 10 mg dronabinol. Each MARINOL (dronabinol) Capsule strength is formulated with the following inactive ingredients: 2.5 mg capsule contains gelatin, glycerin, sesame oil, and titanium dioxide; 5 mg capsule contains iron oxide red and iron oxide black, gelatin, glycerin, sesame oil, and titanium dioxide; 10 mg capsule contains iron oxide red and iron oxide yellow, gelatin, glycerin, sesame oil, and titanium dioxide.

The answer is, Maybe--:tiphat:

There is a chemical compound is called a THCV (Tetrahydrocannabivarin) and it is only found in the marijuana plant. The prescription marinol drug does not contain THCV. Proving THCV is in the specimen sample will prove that the donor smoked or consumed the marijuana plant.

To order a THCV test, contact your MRO or drug testing vendor and let them know you would like this in your protocol only if an employee claims to have a marinol prescription. This means you wouldn’t test for THCV each time. Instead, THCV would only be tested for when a donor claims they have a legal prescription.

This test costs roughly $200 per specimen. Although that price seems high, it is important to realize that this type of test will rarely be used. It also acts as a preventative measure so that future employees do no try to use the marinol loophole to trick the system.

good news, I can use my Marinol on probation. Just talked to my P.O. today and he said they could work with it, so, all is good man.

It should be, Marinol as I understand it is just synthetic THC so it should cause THC metabolites in your urine which is what they look for to show cannabis use. I also heard it said that when they created Marinol they did their best to keep the high out of it but retain the other benefits. I've heard many who've tried it say its pretty worthless as a high. The problem with it as a medicine though is that THC is only one part of what make Medical Marijuana, Medical. Modern science is finally starting to understand that it's the blend of cannabinoids found in marijuana that gives it the full medical value.

Anyway since you say you now have the script I'd get it filled once so there is a record of you actually getting it filled but then not take it or take it separately from your smoking. Now you can say that the THC metabolites in your urine are from the Marinol. As for the test or testing equipment being too expensive that's likely true. There are other things like ibuprofen and nexium that can cause false positives for THC but there are more expensive tests such as chromatography/mass spectrometry or high-performance liquid chromatography, that can differentiate between Marinol and cannabis use.

Just got back from another PO meeting..went good man..he didn't even mention the drug tests, he just asked to see my marinol scropt, so I gave it to him and he was really cool about it..

So, I've been smoking a little bit and it's great...it's like the first few times I smoked the good stuff..it's really an amzing plant after taking a little break..just one hit and i'm good nowadays...but I usually take 3..lol

Unfortunately that effect of needing less doesn't last very long unless you continue to take a several day break in between.

Hey HOPS5K I am on Felony probation in colorado I am wondering about the prescription to marinol. Can the probation departments UAs tell the difference between marinol and cannabis? Judge denied my red card. But I'm pretty sure my regular doctor will prescribe me marinol for my irratable bowl syndrome because It causes alot of nausea.

Hey Fazer1, from what I know now, no, they cannot tell the difference between marinol and cannabis.

I was toking up while taking the marinol and they just thought it was the marinol.

Where we're you on probation at? Was it the Denver county probation downtown off colfax? That's where I am at I really need to get treatment for my IBS they denied my mmj card. I feel it's ridicolous because they allow people with obvious opiate addictions to continue their use of pills. The new law hasn't helped the majority of people who have tried to submit their mmj cards. Thanks for the help.
