Ok, so I noticed a little yellowing on some of my larger leaves a couple of days ago. The yellowing seems to not start on the outsides of the leaves like nitrogen deficiency, but seems to start in the middle of the leaf. I feared lockout of some nutrient, so I properly flushed yesterday hoping that things would look better today. Today they are a little more yellow than yesterday(like a shade), and seems to be spreading to more leaves. I wouldnt have noticed the problems if my other plant wasnt such a lush green (same strain, same age).

The affected plant is also sharing a pot with another plant, and this is the only thing that I can think of causing problems. However, these two plants sharing one pot are also my stronger, frostier plants.

They have been perfectly healthy up to this point. Any input is appreciated!

What was the establishing technique? (seed or clone?) Seed
What is the age of your plants? 42 days from seed
How long have they been in the soil mixture they are in now? entire time
How Tall are the plants? 9- 10 inches

Doesn't look like much of a problem. Maybe an early N deficiency. I assume the lightening of the green coloration is the issue that you're worried about.

One thing you might want to check out. Some spring water is really high in Calcium and other dissolved solids. The excess of those things can block absorption of other nutrients. So if you have a TDS meter...take a reading on that water. What's you're tap TDS? Since your buying water you have many options.

Thanks for the reply EvilTwin. I do not have a TDS meter available at the moment. What would be a cheap way of determining the TDS of spring water? A quick google search led me to a site that indicated Deer Park water is about 90ppm.

I will continue to monitor the leaves, and hopefully this will stay a non-issue.

Did I read correctly that you have 2 plants in a 3L pot? How big are the plants?
EDIT: I see they are 9-10 inches.

That sounds great...90ppm. So you can assume water isn't the issue. Many nutrients are shy on Magnesium. It plays the same role in plant chlorophyll that Iron does in the hemoglobin molecule. In other words, it's the keystone of chlorophyll. Advanced Mg deficiency is easy to spot but early deficiency isn't.

Marijuana is a Mg hog and some strains are worse then others. After growing White Widow, I started appreciating that. So now, with most of my plants, I routinely supplement with Epsom salts (MgSo4) using about 1/4 tsp/gal as a preventative. The lightening of those leaves could be Mg related. The plant can also use the sulfur so nothing is harmed or wasted by doing this. It's even said that it enhances flavor and some finishing products include Epsom salts for that reason.

So, why not add some to your feedings. You won't see anything dramatic...but I'll bet your green will return with a little time.

Quick update on my plant:

The yellowing seems to be increasing. Its the larger leaves that are showing deficiencies, but I am hoping this is just the plant starting to suck energy out of the leaves as it enters late flowering. My last watering, day before Thanksgiving, was 1/2 FF Big Bloom and 1/4tsp of Epsom salt.

So am I correct in still being concerned, or should I just pass it off as N not being used so much any more?

When you limit the amount of space the plants have to form roots, you're also crippling their ability to uptake nutes. You're gonna lose yield and have ugly,dying plants.

Your deficiency will be one of these- nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, magnesium, and zinc -These are the mobile nutrients and the ones that show on older leaves.
Potassium is high on the list of possibilities. Too much Mg will restrict K.
Maybe you need to give a flush, then give new nutes to try to get back on track.

Your plants really don't look that bad. Often a plant may get behind a bit in N and start borrowing from lower leaves. Those leaves then become sacrificial. It's just not that uncommon to lose a leaf now and then. It's when it becomes widespread that it becomes an issue.

Those plants look like they could handle a boost in nutrient level. You're only running 1/2 strength. Ease it up a bit...you're going to want to do that anyway at some point anyway. imo

Before the problem started showing I was feeding full, but then flushed once the problem showed just to be sure. Just flushed out again, and I'll be boosting back to full strength next watering, probably in a couple of days. Harvest should be within the next 3 weeks, but we will see how things play out.
