unhealthy taproots - what to do

I'm sprouting some new seeds (abusive kush) and they are slow to sprout... 5/5 have finally cracked, but the very small taproot looks very unhealthy. A yellow-brown color, I'm worried they are rotting.

I don't think they are quite long enough to plant in some jiffy pellets I have, but I'm debating putting half in there to increase the survival rate..

I have them in damp paper towels between two plates with a heating pad on 24/7.

What can I do to save these babies?

Mucho gracias.

How are the temps? Maybe it is to hot or to wet?

Rule number 1 don't over love the plants, treat them like normal and let nature take its course. The seedlings are to young for you to do anything except give them a proper environment.

Mycorrhizae will help you greatly here. Look into it/them.

FWIW, I used peat pellets for the first time this year and had DISMAL emergence rates. Everything germinated (I also do paper towels, don't like to waste time or space on non-viable seeds), but after planting only a third of them actually emerged. Fucked up shit.
