This has always been a topic that makes me very, very... sad. :*-(

There are only 3 possible answers to this question... "bag" seed, Skunk#1, and Northern Lights.

When you say "old" and "overlooked" I am wondering what on earth made these people say shit like C99? LOL

Bag seed because there are too many youngens runnin' around these forums anymore to realize that everything everyone was growing at one point was "bag" seed... then they took that "bag" seed, remembered where it came from, and crossed it.... enter Skunk, enter Haze, enter OG Kush.....thank you bag seeds.

Skunk #1 'cause when it comes down to it there is nothing on this planet that will beat Skunk#1 for dependable quality taste, dependable quality growth, dependable quality high, and dependable quality yield.

Think about this for a second... Sam was able to breed Skunk#1 from THOUSANDS of plants. Today a "breeder" is the guy with the coolest name clones and the best three Indica daddies he found in three 10-packs of some $200 seeds for an open pollination.

When someone puts as much work into their "work" as Sam did skunk, I'll give it a look.... "blah blah blah" weed laws "blah blah blah" availability "blah blah blah" shut up hacks

Shiva.. (not Sensi's versions) and it's hybrids Shiva x Skunk, Shiva x NL, Shiva x Afghani etc

Nirvana is top notch. Professional and efficient, not to mention cheap. For a beginner, why pay more?

Nirvana's Shiva is good. Expect variation. Some specimens are high potency and can even be a bit intimidating at times. However most specimens were soothing, mild and sedating, good for medicinal/daily. Medium odor. This is excellent, yield is average. Go easy on ferts and water. Easiest way to kill something is with overfertilization or overwatering.

Avoid skunk#1 unless odor is not a problem! It does reek, altho not like a skunk, more like citrus. I do not recommend due to odor problem. 2-3x more scent than others! There may also be some dwarfs in that line, I'm not sure.

Low odor would be NLxBB, mild smell, good hardy strain, high rate of germination.

If they were "unbeatable" then they would still be on top of the market.

Some overlooked but killer strains would be:

Norther Lights
C99
You're kidding right? Those are 2 of the most popular strains, C99 is still rather new. NL has been around for over 10 years.

Durban poison and Dalat get my vote.

C99 has been around for 10 years i believe and NL has been around probably 25+ years in some form, probably in PNW or BC.

NL is a darling of comersh boys and many times its been passed as other stuff just to keep folks interested, more like the flavor of the week.

Do you know (or anybody for that matter) if Dutch Dragon from Paradise Seeds has Durban in it? Breeder comments about its South African ancestry.

In that case Dutch Dragon would be a sleeper as well.

I luv the patterns showing up here, a few mainstayers that keep on re-emerging over and over and those odd balls that some just have to mention for their luv of that which they hold dear irrespective of common opinion. Undoubtedly the experiences here makes for good breeding info for wannabe breeders...Great stuff!

Wonder how many others could be added to the list?

Wtf? The thread is about strains that are overlooked. Ppl are naming WW, Northernlights, skunks, kushes...wtf? Those strains are not overlooked at all Many ppl perpetually harvest all of those strains year in and year out. Lets be serious.

A good example of a strain that is overlooked is chemdogg..
