So i'm fining out brutha ..... so i'm finding out !!! :wallbash:

3rd ..... i've got 2 domes & have tried them ..... they just don't work for me for some stupid assed reason !!! they're always dry by the next morning . i've tried the vents open , closed , partially open .... & i always come in in the morning to A dry dome & wilted clones .... or its saturated & the stems rot ..... i hate them friggin domes !!!

dans

Have you tried sort of "priming" the dome before you put it on? I always give a few good spritzes right onto the inside of the dome itself before I set it atop the tray

Cloning w the dome, my rule of thumb is to keep the vents fully closed for the first 3-4 days, then slowly open the vents/remove the dome fully for a few minutes at a time, in increasing frequencies/durations per day, with the goal to have the dome off/cuts exposed to worldly air by 7-10 days .. ?

Yup & .... did it exactly that way ........ could never get the moisture right ... was either to dry .... even spraying 3x a day ... or it was saturated & the stems rotted ..... :dunno:

up untill this summer when it was so hot that my AC was working over time to keep the attic cool .... it acted more like a dehuey & was suckin the moisture out of the air ..... my method of cloning was stick fresh cuts into cups of straight coco .... & keep them moist ... no drying out & not saturated & just leave them be ..... i had 100% for well over a year ..... untill this summer & everything went to hell !!! & even now with no AC going ..... i can't get the cups to work like they used to. i will try spraying them with plain water which i've never done before ... hopefully that works .

this attic environment has been a real test of my patients & my growing capabilities i'll tell ya !!!! can't wait to get the fuk outa here !!!

I wish i could set up downstairs in a bedroom or something . we have hot water radiators for heat .... its perfect down there for vegging & cloning & with a good ventilation system .... the flowering would be better too :wallbash:

3rd .... while i've got ya here .....what EC are you feeding small veg . my seedlings look hungry at 500tds 1.0 EC ..... kind of afraid to push them much more .... but it seems they're askin for it :)

they get 2 ml of A & B , 5ml of rhizo , 4 ml of MagiCal & 3ml of protekt ... it comes out to 480 to 500 tds & i'm betting more than half the EC is calmag .... should i bump the A & B to 4ml ???
& sense i unhooked the DI filters my RO is at 70tds & the plants seem to like it more than the 0 water . less of a Mag def for sure .

Everything in my veg room from rooted clones to pre-flower big girls get the same feed at 1.0-1.1.
Per gallon-
.5 ml's Protekt
4 ml's CalMag
5-6 ml's A&B
5 ml's Cannazyme.
Sometimes 5 ml's of Boost but that doesn't register on E.C.

This, with my RO water gets me to 5.5 5.6 ph every time which is where I leave it.

As you can see on the SPG I posted on the page before, she would like more N but other than that they all are just fine at 1.0.

Once they hit flower they do just fine. I don't really change anything in flower except maybe go up to 6-7 ml's A&B.

Not sure exactly what you mean - do you mean rig a sort of auto topoff for a drug store humidifier? I've heard from some folks who've tried, only to render the humidifier useless. :dunno:

I'd like to hear more about what you're imagining here..? But it's funny you mention that - when I had this setup, I had my blumats feeding out of the top pan where the fogger sat. :)

Yes... I do mean that... but my unit is like this... it feeds from the bottom.... the other kind that wick the upwards have a "fill line" that submerges the motor..... with this kind however, an additional reservoir would be much easier I'd tend to think....

Hmm. Funny you mention that, because I've imagined the same thing before.. Unfortunately, I'm not terribly mechanically inclined, so I figured it'd be a losing proposition -- Me with no patience left at the end of the project.. ..and a busted humidifier. :)

the biger they get the closer to 500 I use. Going to get a bag of COCO for 1 of the Burkles. I will use the same ppm but add calmag and change the ph to 5.6..

I got a 50p Dehuy that I have never used uet. i guess if I ever need one I have it. I have to much extra gear I might never use.. You know the saying better have it and not need it then need it and not have it.

Dan you have a humidity meter? what is the ave humidity with lights on?? off it will be higher..

veg lights are on 24/7 & the RH in there is 40% ... in flower lights off gets to about 50% lights on it drops to 35 to 40 %

You use alot less protekt than i do which is why i have to PH down . & I don't start the zyme untill they're established in the 5" squares . another week or so before i start adding it to the seedlings .
but yeah i'm thinking most of my EC comes from the calmag & i need to up the A & B to at least 4ml . somethings just not right with my veg feeds ... & i'm trying to figure out what . once the plant gets a good root system going , they take right off & are healthy as can be . but in clones just starting & seedlings starting to feed .... i get defs & they seem kinda slow to grow .all my veg feeds are at 5.7 PH cuz i mix & feed , in flower i'll mix the rez to 5.5 or 5.6 & let it go from there .... by the time i need to refill the rez its at 6.0 to 6.1 depending on how many days it sat .

Man i wish the Veg & bloom nutes hadn't changed their formula !!!! that shit was so simple & produced some of the best buds i ever grew !!!

I dont see any issue with RH. I have never used a dome or any kind of Humidity boost for any seedlings or cuts. It's all done in open air. With 40% you shouldnt be having humidity problems..

Dan ya may have to do like I do with clones. I can't get to the grow everyday so I piss darlin off and bring the cuts home and put them in my closet with a 13 watt cfl. I know I shouldn't bring anything to my house but that is the only sure fire way for me to get roots or maybe I get off on pushing my limits:peek:

I can't bring them into the main part of the house & i tried the basement .... but thats a PIA !!! so i'm kinda stuck up here with them & just gotta figure out whats going on . i think its the RH ... others say it fine & a dome would work if they need more . not for me it don't !!!
i'm not going crazy & tryin all the other 1000 ways of cloning .... i'll get my 3 basic ways of doing it to work one way or the other .
yeah i know ..... stubborn old prick !!!

Yeah if I use anymore protekt then I do need to use down. I only use the protekt because if I don't I would need ph up.
I kinda figured thats what you were doing with such a low dose . i'm using more this time cuz i ran out of DE & its not easy to find around here this time of year .... all the garden centers have Xmas stuff out .

For me, domes are only for the rooters or cubes. If I'm in the bucket/sprayer gimmick, no dome.

Dome, no dome.

something something something Mr. Roboto.

domo .... domo ori gotto . domo

just mixed up 10 gallons of veg juice . dropped the calmag & protekt down to 2ml & upped the A&B to 4 ml .... came out to 570tds ..... so i'm still in a good EC range just less calmag . the only reason i ever upped it was cuz of the Mag def on the GG4 .
so i'll see if that helps ..... :dunno:

Yeah i'd get rid of some of it now .... but i'd wait till the stretch is over to strip the lowers . anything under the net should be gone by the start of buset .... or very soon after .

My 2 pennys worth .....

yeah i took a bunch of leaves and small shoots before i left to Vegas and when i got back Holy Shit did they bush out. i took some a couple large fans off each to allow for more airflow to each of them. Planning on taking the lowers and slowly some fans around week 3 of flowering so i think were about on the same page Dans in when to take em

What's your MO as for the when & how much leg to shave?

On this last round I just flipped, I'm wondering how the screen placement's gonna shake out. I put it a little higher this time, since these gals will no doubt stretch into it.

But, I'm thinking I'm going to leave a few inches below the screen itself:

The plan to leave a few inches comes in part from the fact that the screen is as much to support the stalks as it is to aid in training/directing traffic. I was initially going to do two screens -- the lower for the typical canopy/space management, and the upper for support for the leaners.

:dunno: Play-it-by-ear city over here. :)
