I was gifted these beauties by JLP many many moons ago

then into a tupper container inbetween two moistened paper towels

and here they are about 24 more hrs later 48hrs total from start of germ12 for 12 cracked.. 3 showing tap root starting to stretch out... these 3 are going into rapid tooters here in few min :woohoo:

EDIT... Really wanted to say Thanx again JLP.. these have to be 5-6yrs old and I am amazed by the rapid and complete germination... you have a gift... and ty for sharing it with the rest of us:respect:

Heya JLP good to see ya

Vintage ehh? I like the sound of that.

Sorry it took me so long to get around to em.... so far it looks like I am havin real good luck with them. These were on my list before my sabbatical

I am exited to be doing 12 at once, in the past I would just germ a few at a time.. but these days I have the time and space to germ all of them at once and get a better idea of whats what

Another 2-3 have started to extend a tap root out from the crack in the shell, once they get about 1/4-1/2" long tap root out i put em into the rapid rooters and then into the little plastic container and onto a heat mat

in a couple of days I should have a few pokin their heads out of the rapidrooters.

Ono Nadagin: Good luck with your UM.You should find some gems.
UM is a very beautiful plant ... mine were F2.

I crossed an UM male with an Amnesia 99 female, the result should be interesting.

Make sure you keep a mom from your seeds.

Just thought I would ask your opinion.. as I expected more to have been active this morn

as i mentioned all 12 of the UM f1 seeds racked open but only 4 of the 12 UM f1 seeds have actually had the tap root continue to extend past the edge where it cracked out... and sadly one of these bent the tap root in half and broke the very tip off as it broke free of the see... and hasnt grown any further since

I was wondering if you have any tips or tricks to get these jump started...

Generally when I see seeds do this, if they dont start pushing the tap root out in the 1st couple of days after they crack open it seems like they never do.. I have waited weeks on seeds like this to get growing.... but after a while they just become waterlogged from being in the warm humid enviroment for so long with out growing

I would like to do all I can to promote the rest of the cracked open seeds to grow

Any advice or tips would be welcome

I have the same issue. you have to do what you can. before i germ i makesure the very edge of the seed is good and scratched the same edge that the taproot comes out of.
i usually file it down and when the time comes they open up easier. If its a little open now and your careful you can take a needle and trace it down the edge opening the edge the rest of the way

In my case i use water and paper towel. I change that when its taking too long also.

ty for the info Nept, I think the seds were just not viable.. I believe the ones that cracked and didnt grow just cracked open from hydration pressure... I am still babying the ones that cracked and didnt grow in hopes they decide they want to live! :

I think the issue is with the seeds age and the fact that due to a divorce they were not stored optimally ...

A quick question Ono...How did you store those seeds? Looked like you stated they were 5-6 years old?

My "significant" other and a new baby is forcing me to shut down my growing for a while...I have numerous seeds gifted to me from JLP and some other generous peeps here and dont want to lose them

Right now I have 5-6 different strains (including JLP's M-Mud) stored in a small tupperware container in the back of the refridge...I also put about a 1/4" layer of dry rice mixed in to absorb any moisture

Seeing those seeds were that old, and still got 3 to crack, gives me some confidence...Hopefully I will be doing this ---> :joint: with those genetics in the near future

Grow safe peeps

Put your seeds in your freezer. Seeds stored in a freezer can be stored indefinetely. Just be sure to stop any possible water or it could freeze and ruin your seed stock. You can avoid this by putting dry rice or silica gel in your seed packs, both work great at absorbing moisture.

Happy Toking :bandit:
