It would be taxed of course but if it were totally legal (like any other business) growers can sell it themselves. They´d also be able to make more money because the middleman will be gone. And stuff like expenses - growing gear, seeds etc would be tax deductable too.
a dream come true!

Growing legal will be a nightmare though. Looking at breweries they have to account for everything. The tax man can look at a bag of sugar as ethanol. Literally looking at the ingredients that came in and having an expectation of what was produced. As a grower you might want to shuffle a few KG out the back door. To do so you would need to have every stage of it's production hidden. The electric, floor space and feeds. Though you could declare losses to mould because of equipment failures, even then the man has expectations.

Legalisation here wouldn't be a utopian free for all, in some yank states each plant is barcoded to follow its seed-consumer legitimacy, imagine in rip-off Britain it would be far worse, the governbent want their rake-off from your profits.

Not to mention, penalties for tax evasion are higher than penalties for a personal grow

They will want to sell us pills. Clear dosing of a few licenced plants. That is the shape of medicine. Grown under glass in Norfolk by the husband of our last anti-drugs prime minister. Just as it is right now.

But if it was legal, they wouldn’t be looking for personal grows.
And neighbours/ others wouldn’t be bubbling you up to the authorities because the headline would be “weed is legal”

Thoae cali packets get printed in the uk. Even an old school friend has a small printing/poster shop in london. Always has weekly requests to reprint wedding cake or whatever hype name at the moment. Has all the small print i.e. export, cali.. please dont waste your money peeps!!

Can also buy the canning machines for the bud tins on eBay, it's a right scam, loads of people are at it.

Pays for itself in a few days if fools are paying those mental prices.

Doesn't matter if it's grown in Cali or Doncaster, well grown weed is well grown weed.

I'm absolutely baffled by this "Cali" obsession and it's crazy prices in the UK.

Youngsters are especially gullible and fall for that kind of thing, they often go for the hype.
I guess people like to think they have something different to others.

I tried to explain to one guy that it's the grower and the genetics that matter, not the location, unless you're outdoors...

Cali weed in UK, it does make me smile. Not that I ever say anything or try to correct them. They don't seem to think of the insane logistics involved in it....

However, I do see legalisation as a viable option in UK, especially if gov learns from experience of other countries and iron out the kinks, but, saying that, there probably will be some money-grabbing scum who will try to make this viable only for already established big companies ....

I think Cali weed does make it through to the UK but all the people I know who get it have to place very large expensive orders to get it over here and if it gets seized then they still have to pay half the overall cost! I have tried a few genuine Cali weeds and can honestly say I have either had or grown better myself, I really don't get the hype with Cali Weed?

I hope we do legalise it in the UK as it will help the economy recover after leaving EU and COVID etc, specially now Amsterdam have changed their rules on it. You can guarantee they will still only allow rich large established companies to supply it though :(

Don't bank on the UK ever legalising it. There's more money and control to be had keeping it illegal for the majority and legal for those with insider connections.

It's the marketing, same way as diamonds, champagne and cognac are (was?) more expensive, made less available and exclusive it is more people want it, I guess.

there was some legislators that started the process of requesting legalisation in UK some time back I think, but I really have not heard anything for a while, apart for some counties being less stringent than other if you're caught.
Would really love an update on the current situation....

They’re making too much cash with the way it is.
Uk- the largest exporter of medical cannabis in the world-
Yet we won’t allow our own citizens to use cannabis , as we don’t recognise it as a medicine.
Wait...what...?

https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/exporting_cannabis?unfold=1

the request for information, essentially, didn't disclose any information.
I agree quite odd
This is the 2nd request for information I've seen.
there were 2 cases in 2018 (I think)where medical use was granted in court for kids with seizures, but only those 2 (can't find links with info right now). Not heard anything since, Not like you can go to your GP and ask for some bud lol
Would be nice tho
And this whilst good friend of mine gets max strength morphine thrown at her all the time to deal with pain caused by long term illness!

When my father was dying from cancer earlier in the year, the doctors gave him liquid morphine, then oxycodone but looked horrified when I suggested cannabis oil.
Luckily there are good people out there to help while the authorities get rich....
(For instance, ex-pm Theresa mays husband runs the medical cannabis exporting company! I believe they export around £80 million worth per year )

Take it from someone who has been through the system recently as long as you grow less than 20 plants, and have no obvious signs of being a drug emperor, you will not get anything more than a small fine.

And that is for the above 8 plants catagory (I think it's between 8-20 plants) ,if you get done for the lowest level (upto and including 8) you will only get a conditional discharge and not even a fine, you will basically walk free! :)

And what's more is the cops do not care one bit about it and will leave everything except plants and rootballs. If you get done under the first 2 levels there is no proceeds of crime investigation, they assume you are small and not commercial, although if you have ferrari's parked outside it might be different.

OK it's still not legal but the attitude that the cops and courts have to it now is that they just cannot be bothered, they don't even want to allot any court time for the cases.

It could actually be better this way than if it's legal, especially if the govt starts making money from it when it is legal.
