Those Viking phenos are both stunners Neongreen. Its cool to see how a strain all the way from Afghanistan can be made to selectively acclimatise to the Northern European climate.
I ended up pulling my girls last night, the passion was just starting to show a bit of mould, and the Early Durban had quite a bit to go. The other one I had was some fruity chronic...she didn't seem to care too much for the Welsh summer, maybe more of an indoor girl? The buds were pretty much ripe, but a bit on the small side.

All in all though, I had a nice run, and have something to supplement the indoor stuff. I definitely will be going with the classics everyone has shown me next year...if I get everything sorted out, maybe we can have a classics grow journal!

I'll try find out what strains my "new age" traveller mates used to grow in Wales back in the 90's as that was some tasty outdoor.

Can you say which one from the South African Sir?
Ot was some seeds I got from a southie mate,I put pics up of the finished buds before, not a yielder so I scrapped it.
H theres an old book out,I have it in storage somewhere, its content is growing outdoors in the UK,times have changed since then as none of the really old pics show "buds" that look halfway decent,I will rake it out and get the title.
Had the day off today, busy day yesterday 7-10 days left weather dependant I guess :ying:

I've just brought most of my plants in now, just leaving the two Hashplants as there only 4 wks in, I might make hash from them anyway, got a bit of blues x hashplant dried ready for testing and I've had a little tester of my Leb 27, very nice that, tastes lovely. :woohoo:

Derg Corra Collective offer a few strains that chambabird might be interested in (although not acclimatized in the UK), and I have a couple going right now:

Yeah, they have some excellent strains. The pics that you posted are testament to that. Maroc was from Blue Hemp, Switzerland, so it should do well in cold weather like ours.

I believe that Viking was used in Top44, and is primarily what gives it it's quick finishing time. How long have yours been flowering, and how much longer do you think that they need?

I have heard from several people that Thyphoon is not too potent as I was looking for an outdoor plant uk & also PM`d a grower that specialised in Thy on here for some info & he said the same .

From the pics that I've seen of it, I'd have to agree. I only mentioned it because Chambabird was interested in old, communal varieties. The Nords seem to grow it mostly because it's early, hardy, vigorous and mold resistant. Leafy strains have their advantages ofcourse; they capture more light in cloudy conditions, they're less prone to mold, and they're easier to process for hash making. Another old variety that they seem to grow mostly for hash making is Nepal. From Tanska Seed Development:

"We don’t know if Nepal is really from Nepal but it must have come to Denmark before 1978 because it was about that time Tanska got some seeds and started growing them. Unfortunately he didn’t get much info about them (or he has forgotten it) except that the dealer he got them from said they were from Nepal. He has grown Nepal since then so we are sure it has been grown in Denmark for about 30 years. Nepal is a well-adapted and early strain good for outdoors in Denmark. They finish during September sometimes earlier. We rarely find mold in them (not impossible though) and we have also heard the same from growers further north than Denmark. The plants are often very leafy but there are also many good phenos in between. The buzz is also different from plant to plant most have the “common Danish pot” buzz but there are good chances to get something better from these. Nepal is clearly sativa dominated also in effect."

"Nepal, aka Oldfarmer Nepal
shes considered a pure sativa from nepal that have been acclimatized for the harsh danish weather for several generations
she might not be the biggest resin bomb but she has other qualities
she finishes here by mid September
she has a nice big harvest and a nice up high almost social sativa high
she might not be the most trichome covered marijuana strain around but shes good for some uplifting pot, good hash producer and has potential in crosses also she has some variation in growth
some earlier than others, some more bushy and some gets really big."

Yeah Thyphoon is not that potent but can handle tough outdoor conditions, it seems to have many pheno's with interesting terpenes, some are nice smoke, some taste like hay or have a weird smell.

The old farmer nepal is different to tanska's nepal...
Tanska's is basically a pure sativa with a september finish,
OFN is a separate line with a more indica background and finishes later.

Ive only grown tanskas and its good for getting an early harvest of sativa - very mold resistant.
Stronger than thyphoon and better tasting, although still wants a good cure imo.

I remember discussing this with someone about a year ago, and they also believed Tanska's Nepal to be different to Oldfarmer Nepal. They said that the latter was weaker. I'm surprised that Gunnarguchi wasn't aware of the differences given his experience, although that excerpt was taken from something that he wrote back in 2008. The close-ups in the clip below suggest that Tanska's Nepal should make plenty of hash:
