UK earthquake holy shit

J

Jack Crevalle

and then 'whump' - the whole apartment block started rattling.

I've felt a couple here and I can clearly remember exactly what your saying, I hear a loud wump, wump, wump sound , it is very freaky, sounds like a twilight zone moment or something...the shaking is crazy too, to me it feels like Scotty is beaming you up or something as the ship is loosing control.. LOL!!

It was a very slight rumble here, I live near a railway line and the house doesn't move like it did when a heavy train passes, and you hear the trains coming. I'm kinda disappointed it wasn;t more spectacular here, it was just a little quiver more than a proper shake!

Trust me fellas although the 3s and 4s are fun and exciting...you don't want to experience a 7.0+

The epicenter of the '89 Loma Prieta earthquake in Cali was 7.1 and leveled everything...i wasn't there in '89 but moved there in '93 and they were still rebuilding...Santa Cruz was leveled...The earthquake lasted approximately 15 seconds and measured 6.9 on the moment magnitude scale (surface-wave magnitude 7.1). The quake killed 67 people throughout northern California, injured 3,757 people and left more than 12,000 people homeless[1]...check out more http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Loma_Prieta_earthquake

Glad you are all are alright :D

Yup....thats what I Felt while woken up from a Nap....Remembered that a Baseball Game was going on...1989 World Series

Weed was semi-good in those days :bashhead:

7.1 ? Yea...Nasty Thought it was 6.2

Up and down then Sideways.

Worst about that picture was Steam, smoke was coming out of the sides of the overpass...Some got rescued with people still taking risk saving other people now single stack overpass with 35 more feet.. Brave Souls

I was living in the Bay Area during the loma prieta. I was walking down the street and almost fell over. The ground underneath literally felt like you were walking on water and waves. Streetlights waving back and forth WAY more than you'd imagine they could bend, and a symphony of about 100 car alarms went off lol

I'm now in socal and am completely used to earthquakes from being in cali my whole life. I don't even get up from my computer anymore when I feel one, though I do still get that little adrenaline rush!!!

Glad to hear all you United Kingdomers are okay, natural disasters are a bitch...

All we have to worry about on the Atlantic coast is hurricanes, and you can drive away from those.

I can under stand how you feel. For those of us in SoCal, it is not at all unusual

Reminds me of the scene in the film "LA STORY" where Steve Martin is at brunch and an earthquake hits and all the restaraunt patrons/staff are guestimating the aptitude while still sitting around and eating, going about their business.

...

or the first day of spring. everyone on 101 just randomly firing their weapons out window..

such a great movie

Seismo-dog's. That's what we need. Rottweilers with seismograph collars, prevents police entering while you hot foot it out the toilet window and registers all quakes 10 mins before they happen. Now thats breeding. Maybe we would test our plans on RezDog?
