IMO, this isn't a slam on Republicans. It's the writer's opinion, admitting that Republicans control the House legislative process. Therefore Polis can only introduce the bill. It would take Republican support to advance.

IMO, this isn't a Democratic/Republican issue and it's going to take compromise because we have anti-mj lawmakers in every party... (maybe excepting Libertarians.)

IMO, our biggest obstacle is lawmakers who are unwilling to compromise their special interests. And we're talking big money so business will lobby to thwart repeal until they have a front and center opportunity to get rich.

I wish I understood how to watch and follow a bill get formulated. It's like it just sits there randomly and nobody talks about it for a year, then bam it's an issue.

That's what happened with medical marijuana in Ohio. It was a house bill, then everyone stopped talking about it for a year and I guess it just went away? Lol wtf?

Basically, there's not enough time to vote on every bill. The majority sets the agenda and decides what bills go to committee. A "yes" committee vote doesn't necessarily mean a bill will advance the floor. It's kind of like playing chess and poker at the same time. The majority says "checkmate" and the minority calls bluff, lol. j/k

A bill has to to pass each branch, including any amendments that may be inserted. It's not uncommon for bills to bounce back and forth between house and senate before the president either signs or vetos.
