September's here.

September's here.

...and everything's kicking into high gear. We were out September 1 and found the Sugar Cane Train and Bubba Kush have started to flower in ernest finally. The Sugar Cane Train:

and the Bubba Kush clones:

So we're confident these will finish by mid-October, which is as long as we can hope for around here. They will get a couple of frosts by then but they're calling for a continued warm fall here so hopefully they make it all the way.

Our Baby's Breath is getting real close now though. We actually took most of a single plant. Not a bad way to be sure we don't rush the rest of the harvest just to satisfy our curiousity! Here's the top we harvested:

Not ripe yet but the only one showing a significant number of brown pistils. White pistilled plant though. The pink ones all look so strong and healthy:

And here's the bud I shoot every week as a kind of barometer. It's actually looking almost done:

Anyway, roll call. Pail #1:

Pail #3, the SCT:

Pail #4, where we took our large sample:

I'll try the harvest in a few days after it dries properly. I'd guess it's about an ounce which should keep the other head and I happy - and patient - for a while.

That was a Baby's Breath pheno after a couple of light frosts. The picture was taken on harvest day, September 26. I had high hopes for these two plants which both came from a mother with a particularly dreamy high but they were not the same. Strong - and pretty - but a bit pedestrian.

I have NO PROBLEM with "pedestrian" plants. In fact, I prefer them to "couch-lock" plants

Amazing trees you got in there.
Thanks for that and for sharing them with us all!
Respect.

Looking truly fantastic, gotta love the early genetics, in my neck of the woods frost comes by late september so your plants inspire me.

Thanks for all the encouragement folks. The plant we took most of on September 1st is dry and smokes real nice for an early harvest. It had white pistils and has the nice aroma of our sativa pheno. We have a nice sativa pheno in the swamp and the only other time we harvested that aroma the plant was fairly weak but not this one. In spite of being early (no amber trichomes and could have more trichome density), this plant is strong and long-lasting. As might be expected from an early harvest, it's all treble and not much bass but I like the tune of this one! We got 47 grams off it so we're good till the proper harvest(s) over the few weeks.

Garden at dusk

Garden at dusk

We went to the cedars tonight at dusk. It was a gray day anyway so my dusk pics are kinds grainy but I shot what I could while we waited for darkness to gather water from the river. A few plants had gotten so top heavy they were flopped way over. We braced them with broken cedar branches (no shortage of those), but one of the real tall ones still flopped over at the top so we decided to cut it. Here's how much we cut:

Here's how it looked at home, and up close:

It's still a bit early and we already have a nice supply of some really strong early bud but we feel this plant just couldn't support that top and it will let more light in on the smaller plants. They'll all be in soon anyway.

Except the Bubbas - cute little Ewoks, aren't they?

...and the big Sugar Cane Trains:

The magenta bud I shoot each visit is showing it's age, especially under the flash:

Here's another nice bud shot of a bigger magenta plant in Pail 2:

... and a cool night shot of Pail 2:

... and an even stranger one of Pail 1 and 2 together:

All in all, a great night to be in the garden!
