Which one is sproutco? Just curious. :)

so sproutco, do i water with a solution that is 5.8, or is that what my runoff should be? if my run off is 5.8 then what do i ph balance the water solution to?

I tried to tell everyone adding 2 tablespoons dol. lime per gallon of soil to soil that is already limed like promix is too much. Your going to end up with too high a ph. Try making your water if you use it alone or your fert water after mixing ph 5.8. Always. You have overlimed. It may require repotting in soil without so much lime or adding some pure sulfur to get the ph right.

Runoff should be under 6.5.

You use distilled water to test ph. You have to let the pot sit 30 minutes to 1 hour before testing after watering. See how to test soil ph below in my sig and follow directions very closely.

You need zinc in your ferts not fish crap.

You have a couple of options to the problem if it persists:

>To lower ph...add .37 pounds sulfur per yard (27 cubic feet) of soil. 180 teaspoons per pound sulfur. 67 teaspoons per yard. 1/27 x 67 = 2.5 teaspoons per cubic feet of soil or 3/8 teaspoon per gallon of soil. This is 1/2 rate since you don't need such a huge drop in ph.

>You might consider a one time spray of zinc sulfate. You would use 56 ppm zinc. 212 mg pure zinc in a gallon of water. (56x3.8) If you got 36% zinc sulfate, you would use .6 grams in a gallon of water. (2.77 = the inverse of .36; 2.77 x 212 mg = about 600 mg or .6 grams)

If you only have a way to measure ounces like a cheap postal scale, put 1 ounce 36% zinc sulfate in a gallon of hot water. Shake well. Take 2.5 ounces of this zinc water and put in another gallon jug full of water. Use this diluted mix as your spray. (not the concentrate :yoinks: )

Experimental section. Use at your own risk. :sasmokin: You can get zinc at the drug store/health food store. 50 mg tablets are common. You might find zinc stereate. Place 1 50 mg tablet in a quart of warm water (100mg tablet you would break in half). Spray the plants.
