the latest news on this natural disaster is as follows:

In Turkey 8,000 and in Syria 2,500 have died as a result of this earthquake.

Much love and humanity I wish for the all the victims suffering utter devastation. The energy produced from the first 7.8 scale earthquake was equivalent to 500 Hiroshima nuclear explosions. The delay in helping these people is not acceptable although a recovery is happening now its still not enough.

20,000 dead in that horrible quake, lots of children too. :shucks:
sadly this figure is now correct. The news on the radio was that 20,000 people have indeed died and there may be more.
The only postitive news is that some people are still being recued alive.

Horribly sad news 20,000 is a lot, hopefully AID will start to come through for both countries although I feel Syria may suffer more due to sanctions….

those numbers of dead/injured will rise as the collapsed buildings are dug through. still finding the amazing survivors. hard to believe in those temps.
yes, it is amazing and some of the survivors are actually children!
the saddest story I heard of is that of a woman who gave birth and died right after. :(

Three rescued in Turkey’s Hatay province 13 days after quake​

Turkish rescuers have pulled three people, including a child, alive from the rubble, 13 days after a massive earthquake killed tens of thousands of people, local media reported.
The man, woman and child were transferred to ambulances after spending 296 hours buried under the Kanatli apartment block in Antakya, the capital of Hatay province.
