the most famous one, as late as 2020, was pastor dillon awes of texas who said gay people should be lined up and shot in the back of the head... after a proper trial, and not one named after a marsupial, of course.

the westboro baptists are vile, no doubt, and i love to see the heroic biker- club guys block their nasty evil asses at the funerals they try and ruin.... but unfortunately there are worse.

the christofascists wanna see the u.s. turn into a buncha religious ghettoes where we throw gay people and those that support lgbtq rights off of buildings.

It's a dick move to yell at people in their time of grief. It could backfire and they get punched out or a bolt of lightning from the sky could be thrown down from the god that loves all his/her creations etc. Never know.

Baptists have every right to believe what they want and hold certain preferences for themselves to follow.
Less right, if any, (circumstance dependent), to impose their preferences on other people.

If more people understood those concepts, we could all go on living our own lives with a little less intrusion.

I understand you have deep concerns about this, but if they aren't your kids and you aren't the one giving them hormone blockers where would you think your or anyone else involvement in this appropriate?

I'm for parental rights. Wouldn't want my 10 year old grandson to come home from school and announce to his parents, "hey for the last 6 months I've been transitioning" and they had no say in it. (Hypothetical, thankfully he's unvaxxed, his parents feed him good food and he likes girls, so not likely he'd allow an adult to trick him into doing something he and his parents oppose )

Yet, I don't think my grandsons parents should have a say in what your kids or grandkids or others kids do, wouldn't parental rights mean you decide about your kids and they decide about their kids?

Going through a “gender transition” is every bit as intensive physically and mentally as getting pregnant.

I doubt anyone in here believes that children should be encouraged to go have sex with adults and get pregnant.

I share your concerns about children making permanent choices before they are ready, which is why I'd prefer parents establish good relationships with their kids and help them understand the consequences of choices. It's called parenting and it's hard to get everything right. Been there, done that.

I'd prefer people didn't have surgery or get involved with hormone blockers in many instances. I'd also prefer people didn't eat shitty food and poisoned their own bodies and their kids bodies. My preferences don't grant me the right to storm their house and destroy all their crappy food or demand they follow my preferences for how they treat their body. That's the principle I'm trying to come from. Not my business what other people do with their own bodies, even if I think it's silly or stupid or okay for them, but not for me.

I don't know when every kid gains the wherewithal to make informed choices about their own body. The reason I don't know, is it isn't a specific age for every kid. It's more likely a range.

Just like the onset of puberty is a range, albeit usually a narrow range of a few years for most people. Biologically, "children" can't get pregnant. Only sexually mature people can get pregnant. Culturally and legally some sexually mature people are still considered children (minors). Human beings created that distinction for better or worse. Nature doesn't make those distinctions.
