We had the best neighbors and no problems, the cops took our tank on the last day... but not much was left and we didn't get any tickets.
The guy leaned down to grab the tank and, in doing so, put his face about ten inches away from a chair that had a couple of bags of different class x substances.... and sighed, turned around, and put the tank in the car saying "you know you're not supposed to have that".
I laughed and said "well what are you doing with it?!".
He didn't think that was funny.
I shut up.
He left.
We partied.

Last year after a show at pine knob the cops were emptying someone's tank and I asked if I could have a free refill. Cop did not look thrilled. Actually though. I haven't had a balloon since 1994 in Oakland when Jerry was still alive.

Trey played solo a few years back at a small archaic hall here and there was a dude with a tank right in front of the main entrance after the show.
The pizza joint next door opens up and a guy I knew (no idea he worked there) came out began yelling at the dude and ended up pimping his hustle.
I hear a tank crack in every lot I'm in these days.
thats not what he said... he said let her pick up a gun, and have 9 guns pointing at her.... ie in a war... the cheney's are great starting wars, and profiting from them , but they ain't sending their children to war... dick and what an apt name for that fuck started the iraq war and for what... iraq was a functioning country.. women were doctors, drove cars/etc... hussein was a motherfucker, but so were/still are leaders in somalia/sudan/etc... why not start a war with them... easy answer... they don't have oil.... if we needed sand, that's where he would have started a war...

The problem with that plan, as is the same for most aspects of the economy, he has no real power to make that happen. The best he can do is make things nice for the billionaire class/elites/Corporate Overlords by cutting taxes and hoping it trickles down to everyone else. Of course we all know trickle down economics while it sounds good has been a failed approach since the Reagan years. In order for that to work the elites have to give a damn about anyone other then themselves, which they don't. Now to be fair Trump did try to get manufacturing back by lowering the corporate tax rate from 32% down to 21% and the manufacturers did promise to come back and some even started to but as soon as they got their tax cut they pulled back out. All the US got out of it was another 8 trillion added to the National Debt. Of course Trump should have known better because with him being part of that same greedy, self centered group he should have known they were lying to him. Just like Trump as a businessman has lied many times to get the sweet deals he's gotten over the years (Art of the Steal).He's going to rebuild America's manufacturing industry. Or at least he said he would last time.

So anyway his drill baby drill plan will fail because with us being the number one producer of oil already adding more wells won't bring the prices at the pump down. In fact prices will likely go up because it costs a good bit of money to develope the land to get to a new lease and getting it operational and the oil companies will want the public to foot the bill for all that. If Trump was serious about that, to drastically reduce gas prices at the pump, he would make handing out the new leases for drilling rights, conditional on the oil companies bringing all the oil refineries back online and producing gas at full capacity to raise the supply of gasoline well above the demand for gasoline. The reason the gas prices stayed high thru the pandemic until now is because the oil companies kept about half the refineries shut down after the pandemic. The few that are operational are already running at max capacity which is why adding more oil to be processed won't do anything. They can't produce more then what they're already producing. The only way adding more oil will make money is if we sell it to other countries. Except if we add to the market with a bunch of newly drilled oil it will just flood the market and drive oil prices down which means less profit for the oil companies and they'll never allow that.
Now if the country was really a Socialist, Marxist, Communist, country like he keeps saying it is under democrats then he could make those things happen. Because the government would own all the oil companies and manufacturing companies and the people running them would have to do what he says. Since we are capitalists though he can tell the manufacturers to come back and make things cheaper but they'll just laugh at him and tell him to go pound sand or in Trump's case throw a cheeseburger loaded with ketchup against the wall.
What gets me is that all the people who voted for Trump believe all the lies and they should know better if they understand the economy so well because this is all very basic stuff, Capitalism 101. The corporations will do as they please because they are private entities that the government doesn't control. The only thing the government can do to control these companies is to regulatte but with Musk now overseeing how the government operates you can count on regulations being removed not enforced. All the public will get out of it is pristine wilderness destroyed, already endangered food sources (salmon) destroyed and more PFOA"S and other cancer causing pollutents leaked into the water supplies. They'll be drilling baby drilling though snd the peasants will rejoice. Waiting for all that money to trickle down all while tariffs on everything will make everything even more expnsive then inflation did, because importers passed the cost of tariffs on to the consumer. But hey, Trump supporters know so much more about how the economy works, so it will all be fine.
No, for those things he already has 900+ pages of specific plans drawn up (Project 2025). It's all the stuff that might do the public good that he only has concepts of.

That was such a riddiculous point he made with that too, of course anyone with 9 guns pointing at their face will back down from any warhawkish agenda they might have, because they're about to be worn food.
Except off grid living is damn hard work that requires a substantial up front investment and lots of actual skills that most don't have. While they might be glad they're free from having to pay anyone else for the necessities of life, no off-grider I've ever met would characterize their existance as happiness.

True enough, I'll settle for semi off grid,I live in the country with no direct neighbours ,nobody bothers us,and we still have electricity and a septic tank. Haven't locked the doors in 30 years.
