happens here regularly. they send folks in uniforms carrying guns to do "mental health" checks on folks that think someone is "out to get them". got a beloved local deputy (they DO exist) shot and killed a few months back. people in a mental crisis DO NOT want to see LEO walking up to their front door...
They have to cuff him before they can treat him... maybe he's still resisting...

anyone here read the "Atlantic" magazine? first published years before "The Great Unpleasantness" here in the US, it has been (and still is) one of the most respected and influential magazines in this country. the latest issue is titled "If Trump Wins", and every single article in it is predicated upon what we can expect if that happens. it is, admittedly, a heavy lift of a read, and the editors advise NOT sitting and reading it all in one sitting as i normally do, but did not. it was, i would say, very good advice. i bought it 6 days ago, and am only four articles in... did i mention that it was a "heavy lift" to read already ?

He can't win. To many Chumpers saw the crazy and know they can't support him. Women too, now the reality has hit with paid for USSC throwing Roe v Wade, they are pissed off. He projects his age problem on Biden, but when people actually hear him speak, there are many who realize the guy has lost his marbles.

I've disliked Mitch McConnell for quite some time now, yet with him you always knew what to expect more or less and what his boundries were. Also whether you liked him or disliked him you had to acknowledge he was a force to be reckon with in politics. With all the others that have left or are leaving, once Mitch leaves when his current term is over I think it will be safe to declare the end of Reagan Conservatism.

Oh I'm not really worried after all Mitch is older then Biden and with those few episodes he had recently where his brain seemed to freeze up on him, I suspect he's not long for the senate or the world for that matter. I just think it's sad because all the relatively reasonable Republicans are walking away from their jobs and more of the crazy MAGA types are taking their place. I mean there was a time where the Republican party was about something meaningful even if I rarely agreed with them. I was still able to respect them, now though with all these MAGA extremists there is nothing at all about them I can respect and there is nothing about what they are doing that I'll ever agree with. Fortunately there is a hug portion of the voting public that feels the same way and as long as these MAGA nutjobs keep doing what they're doing the democrats have a better chance of gaining and keeping control.

Unfortunately for Trump Bankruptcy won't solve his problems, bankruptcy can't be used to avoid judgements or the money he needs to put up a bond prior to appeal so that nobody can liquidate his properties while he awaits the appeal ruling. He's running out of time to do that though. His best bet at this point actually his only bet (aside from just accepting defeat) is to go ahead with the appeals and hope that he wins. People will still be able to liquidate his properties but if he wins then he'll be able to get the money back. Although good luck on him being able to buy back the liquidated properties because they'll liquidate at lower then full market value because his financial situation is so weak. He might get lucky and find a bank willing to give him a loan for the bond money but they'll know how desperate he is and they'll hit him with high interest rates and probably require him to put up some of his properties as collateral since everyone knows his tendency to declare bankruptcy.
He has never filed personal bankruptcy. He's declared his businesses bankrupt 7 times.
