True breeders

Hey guys i've been looking around to find real breeders, people who work their lines before putting them on the market, so far i've identified very few that can be classified as a breeder... Some of them being Karma Genetics, Ace Seeds and TopDawg... What do you think who else is doing real breeding this days ?

The only real way to answer that question correctly, is if I follow all those breeders around watching what they do everyday. I really don't think you will find many people wanting to talk about something they can't prove. The phrase, "classified as a breeder" is subjective, and can be viewed in many different ways. If you have a problem with someone's gear, don't buy it. Karma Genetics, Ace Seeds and TopDawg or liked by a lot of people. 😎

Yeah that's kind subjective... I'm after lines that have been worked to some degree instead of just matching two random genetics...

Try reeferman, I think his name is Charles Scot now. I think he's what you would be looking for.

i always wonder how these 'breeders' can grow dozens upon dozens of plants to make seeds and not get cross pollination ... do they have dozen's of tents or greenhouses???

I was asked earlier this week to help preserve a land race. I send half the seeds back,so the guy can sell them on his website? That's your standard domestic breeding operation.

None of these guys with seed websites are breeders. Read one book on plant breeding and tell me any of these guys breed plants. Most don't even know how to grow plants.

i agree with you that most of the so-called 'breeders' are just pollen chuckers - but apparently there are a few sites that do take strains to various generations.. (i don't wanta piss anyone off, so i won't name any).... saying that, how does a 'seedseller' keep on top of 20/30 diff varieties without cross-pollinating??.. and some guys are doing more then 30- do they have a warehouse with 30+ diff rooms??, or diff tents?? - i would think it would be impossible do breed outdoors, or even in a greenhouse...

Well you know if i self 6 plants in a line and 2 breed true to type i can document show you that and i should. Not enough folk show their failures it would foster more trust in the community.

no disrespect to you Mr.TOM Hill but i don't considerate selfing as a way to go talking 'bout true breeding
what would it be if there were no methods of selfing selected/buyed cut instead of obtaining them through hybridization.
So some look at the sky, others dig the dem ditch without knowing it when
then the cake is far elsewhere, faraway:biggrin: but it's a marketing law, i guess
about the rest...I couldn't bear to present myself as infallible.it's simply fool.in fact was planning a true to view breeding run in order to show some ventures failures

True breeding means less possibility of improvement. It all depends on what people want. Do they want a Disney Holliday or to explore? I accept Disney is more popular.
