Damn next time try NIC

I got the 3 Praying Mantis eggs cases this morning. :woohoo:

They are quite nice. I put each one in a separate paper baggie in my refrigerator to keep them in hibernation mode.
It's way too early for them to hatch now. Gonna have to read up on this today. Hope it works out and they kill lots
of grasshoppers and live to reproduce.

Hey trout? Do you have an estimate how many eggs each sack contains? Is this a renewable resource every year?

Childhood secret: Preying Mantis terrified me as a kid. We'd catch them in jars, but I couldn't get the lid on fast enough. To me they looked like Sigourney Weaver's 'Alien' before Sigourney had an Alien.

Glad you got them, trout.

I'm more fond of lady bugs, for the previously-stated reasons. Better yet, nematodes; quiet, invisible (to the eye) guests which you hardly know are there. :)

When's the last time you heard someone wake up screaming, "THERE'S A NEMATODE IN MY BED!!!!"

See? Point made…. :)

When are people planning to plant outside this year? In southern coastal BC it seems to be usually around 4/20, April 22nd this year if you prefer the new moon for planting. It's been beautiful weather out here.

This was the winter that wouldn't end, here. We've still got close to 2 ft. of snow on the ground in many parts, and the melt set in heavy about 3 days ago or so, getting up into the mid-to-upper 50s f. then.. Going from what was 3-4 ft. of snow, to what will be pervasive mud, quickly.

Normally folks plant in greenhouses here in mid to later April to early or mid-May, and outdoors around the 1st of June.

Not a clue yet what might happen this year here.
