Checked the airline tickets and that's what i came up with.
I would rather not go during peak season, too many people.

Well I'll chime in and say I've been to the Dam a dozen times and about half of those were for the Cannabis Cup and the other half were timed with other parties or simply solo missions for making connections.....Anytime of the year is a good time to be in the dam....lots of folks here have their agendas and alliences with ICmag or issues and problems with HT , Whatever the case may be...I personaly reccomed going to the dam ANYTIME OF THE YEAR.....SCREW both cups and all the BS judging that goes along with them....

If you must go to a festival Focus on the Brotherhood and Love that is emitted from yer brethren smokers and not by any scammer, schmoozer, or Blowhard tryin to become the next big seedmakeror seedseller.....too many people get caught up on the actual judging when the real focus SHOULD be on global legalezation....

A good party is a good party...the only ones who ruin it are the ones focusing on whose Herb is the best.....when we should all be baskin in the glory of being able to smoke openly for a week.......

and March-MAy is about 5-15% more expensive in total expenses than the Oct-Feb season......simple economics of tourist seasons.....msm

No BS judging at the ICmag420 cup........i can assure you of that, i was one and the event was wonderful......i have no alligence to anything or anyone just an opinion and when something kicks ass it kicks ass......the cup did.
Oh and i agree that any time is a good time to visit the Dam (although april 20th is the best day).

I consider anything open to the general smokin public BS judging.....I love the folks at SD ...Dutchgrown is one of my favorite peoples to hang with in the dam.....

I just think to have a True down and dirty Whose best of the best type judging..it has to be done with a controled group of heavily expierenced growers who have higher caliber palates and tolerances.....An invitation only 50 person panel that inorder to sit on you have to send in a "Herb Resume' " detailing yer expierence , acomplishments and what would make you capable to take on such an undertaking.

I know the ic cup had a celebrity panel and then the populus (like the CC) but once again youve got folks who may be considered extremely inept at judging more than one thing at a time since they get too messed up and cant judge the rest of the day....and then the whole cigerettes and drinking since most come to party they mix a with other stuff and once again judging is screwed.....

so no matter what you may feel, my feelings are no cannabis competition is completely fair or impartial.....When we get the annual DevilsHarvestKrew Kup goin in about 5 yrs (HA!) lol , then we may have some impartiality.....no prizes or any piddly crap like that...winner gets a Crown like Miss America to hold for a year...LOL......

and I'll disagree with april 20th ...too many Hippies in town that day..lol...THE best day to visit Amsterdam is during the winter while the christmas lights are up and the Canals have frozen over so people can Iceskate on them. Out of all my trips to amsterdam that was the most beautiful and friendly I have ever seen that city.....Holidays get the Dutch all cheerful and loving....well more than normal.....msm

I can vouch for that True, although i was'nt personally judging, many of the jugdes were open, approachable and the samples they were given were rolled up and shared, asking what people thought of the herb being shared. Trust me not bein a judge was no big deal! There was much sharing and 'here try this' etc. In fact one judge (you know who you are) said the judges task of smoking was 'too regimented', for him, spoken like a true pro.

Never been to the HT cup so cant say much, but too right the DAM is good any time, personally like it near Xmas time.

Going to either cup would be a treat for me.
I have never been to anything like this, except my own cup with my friends of course!! Hahaha, but you get the point, let's all just get along.

It's all about the Herb right? I dont care where i go in AMS as long as i can visit a coffeeshop or too before i go anywhere else.

Right on well either way i can't wait to be in dam i went to lugano when it was legal to have swiss coffee shops and man it was cool order weed from a menu. i simply asked which is the best and she replied in her very best broken english "they are all the best" and then iw as decision time amsterdam flame , or bubblegum. great white shark or skunk #1. Haze or super skunk.. this was the time when you could just walk to lake lugano and smoke in the open right on the waters edge... so i am really looking forward to smoking a fat joint in a coffee shop...

well i will be in the DAM either way in novemeber so whom ever is going from ic we all should try to meet and greet and smoke!

Very similar to how I feel. 50 judges is a bit much though.

I ve been a judge many times on several continents, most of the times many of my fellow judges, were shall we say less than qualified.

Always fun in the Concentric City, but I avoided the Cup by two weeks last nov/Dec, on like my 10th trip or so (lost count). I agree that the Xmas lights, no crowds, and St. Nick parading past as I hang at Barney's for a breakfast of good food and Amnesia Haze was pretty damn pleasing. The cold was ever-present, and I was not used to it, however. haha

Gave up a girlfriend and gained a new life..! haha #2

The Cup is a circus, but some really enjoy it, some see it as a trade show, and good on 'em all, cause they breed our super-strains..! While we play with dirt. And overgrow the world shitstem.

The pot can seem lacking, and homogenous in The Dam, but the variety is fun, just gotta pick and choose carefully - Commercial smoke is everywhere, just like all places. Super good smoke, cured nicely, with some flavour left was rare. Amnesia Shop and Barney's had a clue.

Diesels/Kushes/Sours are helping to better the general quality IMHO.

Unrelated: Amnesia Haze was druglike, debilitating, and deserving of accolades.

Still, I will try to be at the 420 cup mext year. That pot looks killer...! Not too much of those sort of quality buds/strains were available in the Coffeeshops..!

If it is your first trip. Enrich your experience. Skip the no-name pot and the 5g super deals on old Blueberry that tastes like Hay. Too much money can be wasted, you won;t wanna smoke it... Go for the winners, and enjoy the hash, too, but not the cheapest stuff - it goes a long way....

Eschew International foods... Avoid Alcohol, drink lotsa water. See some good music. Say please/thank you, wait your turn, see something besides Amsterdam, try Dutch, alstublieft etc...

You 'll make lifelong friends, and learn a lot, if you wanna. Europeans are awesome well-rounded, tolerant, intelligent folks.
