Hasn't Jamaica been on the "do not visit" list for years?

My wife and her mom went there
The resort's beach was bordered by barb wire
When they turned their back and went into the ocean, their towels were immediately kicked up and their stuff taken
They went into town and promptly had a machete held to their throats while their purses were cut off
Some guys tried to break in to their room at night while they were in it

I think you're supposed to stay at the resort and not venture off

i am also going to jamacia in decemer. my girlfriends dad owns a coffee company there. we will be in negril
and from what he says.. a lb of good goes for around 40-80 dollers(he has houses up ont he mountain)
first time ill be visiting.. but they are there every other month

One of the funny things about Jamaica is...if and when you get pulled over and you have green on you...they take you to the ATM so you can bail yourself out (if ya know what I mean).

yea definitely be careful if u are holding any herbs while traveling as there are frequent roadblocks checkin for illegal taxi's,guns etc...if u do carry just take a small amount incase someting does happen.

Hey thats Cool Thatdude that your gf's dad owns a shop down there in negril. Tell him u want some of the good orange hill buds...they grow alot of nice stuff in that area. Is your gf's dad named Roy by anychance?

Hey Doobie why post up such negative stuff about goin to Jamaica? Have u ever been there? Sure it has its share of violence and poverty but I have yet to have a bad experience in all my visits there over the years. Be mindful of your enviroment around u and try to avoid goin into places/neighborhoods u normally wouldnt go and u should be fine....just like any country really.

My wife and I have been to Jamaica a few times now (5 I think) . We love it there and I have had no problem finding good weed . I have left many beans from fine strains as I am sure many others have. We have always stayed in negril but have ventured out . We went to the market in savannah La Mar , now that was a trip that put me on the edge of my seat. The food has always been great and weed too so long as you are choosy and dont mind saying no until you get what you want. We have stayed at the Bar B Barn on the beach the past 4 trips and love it there (ask for Denton) , Glorias is a great place as well. Last spring the best buds were coming down from orange hill but the cops also know this so I didnt dare travel there to get any , thats were making good friends and buying a few rounds of rum and Guiness helps out. We met "The Bush Doctah " and he had some very potent hash , I believe others here have talked about him as well and he is a very cool guy who is worth looking up for a jungle tour . Anyway have a great trip we will be there in april for 420 if plans go well!

Jam is worth going to. I went to Negril.

1st , they will hustle you constantly the moment you set foot there.
I gotta say it got irritating but I adjusted to it, changed my body language
and got better at slipping away from advances. Most of the weed aint that great.
All about quantity here, bubble bags would be nice. Your best chance of getting good
weed is through making friends with the natives, like anywhere else. And when you make friends with the natives, expect to still be hit up for money. Great people to make friends with but you gotta help them some, its so poor there.
When buying anything, try to only have just enough cash on you, and no more.

You'll see kids on the roadside outside of resorts selling jerk chicken from oildrum barbecue's. That was the best jerk chicken I ever had anywhere. Jamaican blue coffee from roadside stands for $12/lb.

It is breathtakingly beautiful and lush there. Great snorkeling. There is part of the interior that is cutoff from society long ago by runaway slaves. They have been there ever since living an indigenous lifestyle off the land not paying any taxes or using money at all.

Although I did like alot of the tourist food, I was curious about the food Jamaicans eat. The friends we stayed with were eating alot of stir fry dishes often with this tropical vegetable called ackee. It looks like a boiled egg yolk, grows on a tree. Didnt find it served in any restaurants. I really liked it. My friends and other jamaicans were suprised and impressed that I wanted to eat that.

Going to Negril this spring. Me and my friends will be staying at the Couples Resort. One of the women going with us hasn't smoked weed since high school. She is now 40 yrs. old and I want her to have a good experience. Any suggestions? She's already worried about getting thrown in a Jamaican prison! At least I don't get paranoid until after I'm high. Wouldn't mind trying some hash myself either.

Be smart and use discretion like u would here when smoking... dont use it openly on the beach as u will get caught....Dont buy the first stuff u get as its everywhere and most ppl will overcharge u for mid grade weed. Talk to some of the staff at the resort and they might be able to hook u up and let them know u want some good stuff lol....Check with some of the fishermen down near the craft market by the bridge they might be able to help u out too some cool guys down there. Little place named Rankle Skankle right by bridge that serves food to order (fish etc..) check it out!

So now there's 8 of us going on this trip the 1st week of April. Not quite sure what to make of this since 2 of the 8 are not people I want to get high around. One of them has a big mouth and will blab to everyone back home. The other is very prudish when it comes to ganja and anything else that the govt has made illegal. Funny thing is she has no problem with people getting drunk of their ass. Fuck 'em both, the rest of us are not going to let them drag us down and if they try to ruin this trip, it'll be the last time they come with us anywhere.
