Jah Bless Jamaica!!!

So...PoopyTea and I are sailing to Ocho Rios, Jamaica. This will be my second time visiting...but I didn't get to do much in the short time I was on the island. I fell in love with Jamaica...I actually have craved going back. Since Poopy sent me on a cruise last year (sorry about the $800 booze bill hun) my Mom and I are taking him with us this time....haha. It pays to book your trips in advance btw...

So, this thread is open to suggestions so that we can see the most of Ocho Rios. They can be shore excursions...local type tours, watersports(they sell you weed and tell you how to get it on the boat).

Yea two ppl can parasail at one time, If u are staying in Ocho Rios some nice day/nite excursions would be visiting Glistening Waters in Falmouth Trelawny, Check out Port Antonio in Portland if u get the chance nice laid back vibe and not as developed (Reach Falls is there too). Also the Bob Marley house up in Nine Mile St. Ann is a cool place to see on a day trip. Lol I could go on and on but it all depends on what u like to do. There is a nice place right outside of Ocho Rios that has horseback riding and a huge botanical gardens might even have some zipline canopy tours...havent done it personally but its on the list As for the ganja....dont buy the first thing u see and ask a local at the hotel or someone who u deem trustworthy to help u out. It can be found for really cheap if u get the right connect. I usually stay just outside of negril (sheffield) ,or in st catherine near spanish town and can get a oz for less than $20 us but that is with a good connect like i said. Have fun and be safe!!!

Old Estates

Rose Hall Great House

Visit some of the amazing old estates left over from colonial times like Greenwood Great House built by Elizabeth Barrett Browning outside of Montego Bay, which used to be a sugar plantation, or the Rose Hall Great House. Many of these "Great Houses" are now open to the public and some have even been converted to museums. These mansions give a glimpse into the luxurious and negative aspects of a previous time that will most likely never happen again. Some people claim that many of the great houses are haunted, so be on the outlook for ghosts.

Dunn River Falls
Dunn River Falls is an amazing cascading falls that spans more then 183 m (600 ft). It is often featured in tourist ads that promote Jamaica making it one of the most popular travel destinations on the island. Another amazing thing is that the Dunn River is one of the few rivers in the world that falls directly into the sea. A popular activity is to climb up the falls and then hang out in one of the several lagoons along the way. Dunn River Falls was featured in the James Bond Movie Dr. No, which included the famous scene of Ursula Andress walking onto the beach. The waterfalls are near the town of Ocho Rios.

Blue Mountains

The Blue Mountains are a hiker's and camper's paradise, with its highest peak at 2,256 metres (7,402 ft) high. From its summit both the north and south coasts of the island can be seen, and if you're really lucky, on a clear day you might be able to see the coast of Cuba. The mountain is also famous for its coffee, which is cultivated on the lower slopes of the mountains. This coffee is considered some of the best coffee in the world. Part of the mountains are now a national park providing for some natural protection.

Other Sights and Activities
Beaches are possible to visit in towns like Negril. These long sandy beaches are some of the most beautiful in the world and famous for bright sunsets. Most tourists come to Jamaica in order to enjoy the beach.
Maroon Indian Village can be visited in villages like Accompong. These natives fought for their independence from the British and won it in the 17th century.
Music like live reggae can be heard where it all started: on the streets of Kingston.



Events and Festivals

Pineapple Cup is a yacht race in February that starts in Miami and finishes in Montego Bay.
Carnival is a week long festival after Easter in March/April.
Kingston Test Match is the big cricket match of the year. April sees the West Indies cricket team take on an international challenger.
Ocho Rios Jazz Festival is held in June.
Reggae Sunsplash is held in August.
Reggae Sumfest is held in July in Montego Bay.
Jonkanoo is a traditional Christmas celebration.

I swam with dolphins in Ocho Rios, whilst honeymooning there a few years back, and i remember going to some big falls that were close by, cant remember the name at the mo.

smoked some nice weed whilst there, easy to get hold of, but still had to do deals down alley ways and stuff. lol

^^I want to do it all....and you went to Dunn's river falls I think. That one I think we'll do on a future trip....we'd like to make Jamaica our second sort of home, ahaha. It's my favorite country...so far.

You probably could have scored some weed from someone right around the dock. When someone asks you if you want a cab ride or buy something they're selling...just ask to buy some weed instead. Gauranteed when a boat docks...there's weed all over it. I smoked some mids...wasn't too bad...shit, I'm only a weed snob at home, haha. I would like to smoke some of the best in Jamaica if at all possible this time, something that's from Jamaica. Poopy said he wants to smoke Jamaica...I don't doubt it

Just let the person u are gettin it from that u want the high grade herb not the regular stuff...Dunns falls is a really nice place but can be kinda crowed/commercialized nowadays....thats why i mentioned Reach Falls in Portland not nearly as large but great vibez. Miss B: just be careful while attempting to purchase nugs out in Jamaica or other places....I know Mrs. Babba pointed me to a thread before I went to the Bahamas.....I had asked about the local weed scene so I didn't have to bring any....
What that thread stated in short form was the following: The cops supply weed to the local cab drivers, tour guides etc....those people solicit you to purchase weed.....they get it for you....and when you get back to the boat, car, hotel...etc....they point you out to the coppers.....then you're promptly arrested.....they grab your weed back and recycle it for the next tourist.....and you spend the day in jail, paying fines....etc.

Not the ideal vacation for me.

So having read that, I decided to bring my own to the Bahamas....

Glad I did.....the scene was non-existant......no offers....no anything. I think I was the only one on Paradise island with the dank! LMAO.

I've been to Jamaica....Ocho Rios specifically.....went to an all inclusive years ago called Ciboney....not sure if it's there anymore...really over the top....
It was there that I got practically assaulted everywhere with people trying to sell nugget...
Even while swimming in the ocean....a boat went by selling "shells" filled with dope!

Haven't been there in many years however...I'd like to think that the scene is still that cool and free-wheeling...but in lieu of recent stories as eluded to above...I'd be cautious everywhere there's potential to get scammed by the fuzz and the locals.

^^I know...I was really careful my first time in Ocho Rios...the guy that helped me out was cool. I was lucky...I know you're taking a chance when you travel and I'm glad it turned out alright.

The guy gave me his card and told me he's been there at the dock area for years....

For some reason seaside security was there, but he was cool...he said we don't bother smokers....we're looking for big shipments. He offered to let me stay with him next time I was down there...uh huh. They love American women in Jamaica I think, haha

^^ We may have to just have someone meet us in Florida before we board the ship. It was a great part of my trip to smoke some Jamaican grown weed though.

Dunn's River Falls is something you don't want to miss. If you go, make sure you bring water shoes as you hike from the beach up the falls.

Don't go looking for pot in towns. Its not real safe and you should have 'no problem' getting it from rental guys or locals near the water. Also, you should check out the booze cruise's! They take you to great snorkel spots, give you all the rum drinks and red stripe you want....and most of all let you blaze it up. the whole time jammin killer raggae

From recent articles I have read in good ole HT (heehee), you are supposed to be able to get a pound of killer for $300, so, don't get ripped off.

I always wondered if buying coffee and having it canned there if it would not be a good way to bring home other beans.....hmmm... I know they will can your coffee beans on demand, so slip em an extra $20 heehee.

Second worst vacation destination for Crime, violent and otherwise...

I worked in travel for years, and heard a lot of horror stories, as well as experiencing them first hand, as well...

You take your life in your hands each time you go to JA. You will be threatened. If you are travelling with an attractive woman, you will HATE every minute.

You will be offerred EVERYTHING under the sun, including women (which I believe they are just talking Sh*t) and when you say no to each, you will then be hassled. Called every name in the book, and feel like it is time to go home..


There are so many places to travel where you are allowed to be who you are... Not seen as a meal ticket, or a piece of *ss.... In JA, white people are hassled endlessly. The racial and sexual orientation phobias from the MOST aggressive and Macho losers on EARTH is only made worse by the fact that one cannot hide there.

I would only go to JA again, if I could stay with a family that I could trust.. Nevah gonna happen.


Good luck, Sincerely, but I would recommend any other destination. For safety's sake.

The food sucks, and the weed is not that great, either...

If you are in Negril visit Gloria's Sunset..Its has small beach shacks for rent. It is a local joint. Gloria and her son have some amazing herbs. Just find her at the bar and let her know you'd like to go up to the mountain. She will put you in touch with someone who will show you the way. This is where the best herb is by far. You should be able to get honey oil, hash oil and a large amount of herb for $50 US. If you spend enough time around Glorias sunset and get to know her..she will no doubt invite you to her house. Best Jamaican food and the best SPACE CAKE i have ever eaten. Prepare for lift off after eating some! Hope this helps a little.

nuff respect Irie lion. I agree with you, one bad experience should not sour your opinion of a whole country. I have been travelling to Jamaica for a while. My wife is Jamaican and we keep a residence there still. I have more problems here in the states than I have in Jamaica. In all my experiences in Jamrock, and there was about five years where I lived about a 3-4 months in Jamaica, I have never really had a problem and I have travelled all over the island-Negril to Kingston and everywhere in between. If anything I found Jamaicans were very concerned about my well being and would go out of their way to look after me, in fact they seemed more concerned for my safety than I was. As far as weed the west is the best, though Ochie gets enough tourists that you can find the good stuff (don't pass up a chance at some of the local stuff though). The real problem is being discerning about buying as tourists get offered weed all the time. The first few times I went there I actually became a little annoyed at how many offers I got. The white shrooms are cool as is the honey hash. They get their hands on good strains but you pay for it as well, compared to the local stuff. Don't be afraid to higgle/bargain for the price, tourists will usually be overcharged (of course that is relative it is definitely cheaper than what you spend in the US). Where we live in JA you get the local stuff pre-packaged for one joint for about JA$20=about 25 cents US. Locals usually mix it with grabba, local tobacco. Rolling papers are usually bought individually by locals, so buy a pack and be generous. Most local bars, the small four stool shacks, have weed behind the counter. Buy some locals red stripes or white rums and make some new friends. Visit some of the smaller towns in St. Mary and Portland. If there is a concert go to see it but be prepared Jamaicans party all night, they start around 10pm and end 7-8 in the morning. As far as bringing any back don't do it. American prisons are like the four seasons compared to Jamaican prison.

I just got back from Jamaica like a week ago! Honestly I couldnt get good shit if my life depended on it. Even the hash was black and probally mostly some dudes skin flakes. I was on a resort (Grand Lido Braco) awesome place with the best nude resort in the world no joke, a couple we met had been allover to every resort and returned to GLB 30 times after they fell in love. I didnt get a chance to do excursions this time but met some locals who said Green Grotto Caves is very cool, they take you down to see blind fish and whits plants w/o clorophyl as well as the other cave features. I got 3/4oz nugs and 1/8 hash and 100's of viable brown beans for $120 but never left the resort. I found they nugs were immiture in an attempt to pass it off as sensi but you'll find little white beans an no viables in the smoking product. I ended up tossing a ton of shit cuz I dont like smoking and didnt bring my vape and the potency was not to my liking so I was allways with a "Big Head" (jamaican for joint) in my hand. Well this brought me back to my college days of smoking blunts but got old quick. The jamaicans said to me "you smoke too much" wow

Have a blast and be safe, yes I have been mugged there in the past in Ochio Rios. Do not let someone "show you arround" the shops markets or anything it pays to just say "no thanks you " and keep walking. They will not attack you they are looking for the naive people like me who follow them into a secluded spot and bam!
