As JJ has stated the servers for icmag are in Holland......perhaps the most cannabis tolerant country in the world and since we are not here to sell cannabis but only to give advice and information about the plant.....there is no criminality involved in that.....(freedom of information e.t.c.)

The site sits on a very secure server and is watched over 24/7 by people that understand the importance of keeping the membership secure and if ever there was to be a breach of this security then the site Admin's would be notified immediately and can take the appropriate action....(magnetize/nuke the hard-drives e.t.c.)..

We don't log I.P.'s and don't keep e-mail adresses for any use other than to notify a new member that they can now be active on the site.

Thats what we do for your security......

What you can do for your own security if you feel that what we do is not enough is to register with an e-mail adress that cannot be traced back to you EVER....

When you surf/post on the site go thru a PROXY server...

NEVER give out ANY personnal details:adress, real name, phone number-user-handle-password to ANY other person/member.....

......we can only do so much to safeguard your security.......you need to do the rest if you so feel that you need more.....

Nice to see that your doing so much for the safety of us users of the site.

Some ppl call me paranoid but i newer login here or other canna related forums without using a proxy.
Might browse as a guest for faster picture displaying, but newer login without using a proxy

also im using a hushmail email that i opened using a proxy and i only use it for canna related stuff.

i use a freind for safe addy when ordering seeds, having gear send etc
the grow room from which im posting pix of my breeding project is several kilometers away from where i live.
why this hassle when i have nothing to hide as im breeding seeds and seeds are legal in my country?

Will besides the seeds theres plenty of good weed in surplus.
its for me and my friends and not for sale, but still in large amounts and i dont ever feel like having to argue this to either the cops or a judge.

ive been to jail once and i dont EVER plan on returning, but on the other hand no body is to tell me whether i can grow cannabis or not cause its my favorite hobby and actually the jail time made me refind a hobby ive been neglectingfor almost 14 years.

stay safe, green and happy folks

And also being a US citizen I respectfully disagree. Never met any po-po that were a challenge for a decent lawyer. When theres no possible way for them to get your personal information from an IP address without breaking the law themselves illegally obtaining it from your ISP they are screwed.

Last time I checked ISP's direct all that shit to their legal dept. They know they can be sued just as much as the police and thats why they both dont do it. Both of them can barely afford to stay afloat in the first place, none of them budget for yearly lawsuits for violation of privacy.

Besides that theres no way in hell any police agency or an ISP for that matter is going to be able to keep these kinds of activities secret on a nationwide level. Not in this day and age. Look how fast the whistle was blown on AT&T diverting router traffic to NSA servers. You would think they could have kept that one a secret considering its nationwide sensitivity. There isnt a flying pigs chance they can keep major violations of privacy going after random pot growers on the internet by IP addresses.

And this is the major flaw with everyones presumption that your areas police dept has groups of IP addresses that they are responsible for policing for all applicable local laws. Doesnt work that way yet and if it ever does there will be plenty of lawsuits to warn people.

for security reasons im not going all to deep into this, but i can tell you that even if my jail time didnt involve cannabis or other "drugs" i was arrested on sensitive personal information and they later made up the legal papers to suit their actions..

i wouldnt trust your words that much.
A creepy jail time convinced me othervise
But what the heck
Do as and belief as your pleased but bare in mind that being locked up in a little concrete cell isnt that fun

yet is the key word, i do believe

No it isnt, you could have just as easily put the word EVER and it would be the same since there isnt one case where the company is responsible for policing its service for all applicable local laws.

If it were then the phone company would have been busting millions of people a year for using them to commit crimes.

Same goes for police monitoring and policing all the phone numbers in its districts. Do you think they plan on doing that? I dont and the phone has been here over 100 years.

Part of problem I see is that ip's are still getting stored on the server through stat logs as well as in the members database itself. (I would assume for banning purposes. Not familiar with how vbulletin handles that. ) Does it store ips when members accounts are created. If so does it update them on each login??

Proxy servers can help confuse the matter in tracking your ip but in alot of cases your real ip can still get tracked down anyway through ISPs. Depending on the proxy server. I would not be suprised if the DEA, FBI etc. who do employ hackers have or have attempted to hack the database to get a list of ips. More for future reference than anything really. If they are good IC may never know thats it's been compromised. It would be better to not store any ips and modify/delete the stats logs to exclude ips on web traffic.

But fuckem anyways. I say the strength in numbers is great here. The more of us the better. Also a large majority are hobby growers etc. which they could give a shit about.

yes, if ur IP is updated on IC on each login, then a proxy will help, but if it stays the same, as in the IP you/us started on IC with, then i think the proxy only hides or disguises your ip, but your real ip may be on IC database still. at least IC is in holland, that's 1 real good thing.
what do those who post as a guest w/ no posts listed, gain? any extra security?
