screw this cold weather, where the hell is SPRING? the squirrels in my yard are stealing wool socks & making insulated underwear out of them...

We Mainers are headed below zero this weekend. Coldest weather of the winter. :freezing:

Gotta turn on the electric heater in the basement to keep the tents above 70.

me & few other biker friends had a midnight coffee run we used to make spontaneously, it was about 155 miles each way from White Plains to Schenectady NY @ the Brandywine Diner, a 24 hour greasy spoon.

It was mostly a testament of how well maintained your bike was to take it on a 300+ mile meaningless trip @ night. other bikers might show up @ the bar and hear that we'd only left 15-20 minutes earlier and mostly they'd catch up as we were never in a hurry and always took the same highway route as a change in scenery was never a concern @ night.

the only 'breakdown' that I recall was when Jay blew a baffle out of one of his exhaust pipes, we searched the darkened highway and then just decided to forsake that particular danger & just remove the existing one. that made for one loud straight piped Sportster, and was the reason Jay rode home behind the rest of us.

I sometimes wonder if that run is still taken @ night or if it's been shortened at all, truth be told, any run across the Hudson River @ night is fairly awesome, the Newburgh-Beacon Bridge was best, a shorter double span cantilever bridge and a very cheap toll charge compared to the Tappan Zee Bridge, a massive 3 mile long cantilever bridge farther south but also easily accessible to us.
