Excellent advice Gunnarguchi, although one does need a bit of patience and dilligence to always use TOR. I notice the TOR network seems have more and more periods of good speed lately.

Hushmail, though, has had some questions raised about it's security lately: http://blog.wired.com/27bstroke6/2007/11/encrypted-e-mai.html. From the article:
A September court document (.pdf) from a federal prosecution of alleged steroid dealers reveals the Canadian company turned over 12 CDs worth of e-mails from three Hushmail accounts, following a court order obtained through a mutual assistance treaty between the U.S. and Canada. The charging document alleges that many Chinese wholesale steroid chemical providers, underground laboratories and steroid retailers do business over Hushmail.

i have also experienced much better speed with newest versions of TOR compared to when i some time ago used an older version.

on 90% of the time i get very good speeds but of course a heavy pix post takes a little longer to load, but if i use the bandwidth graph i see that very often it peaks at my lines max speed.

i may be completely wrong on this......
but i thought i remembered reading in another TOR discussion thread that it was set up by the U..S g.o.v/m.i.l.i.t.a.r.y so they can just get right around it and it basically only protects you against random people searching you using your IP and not from anyone in any kind of LE
