Face book and other forms of social media relying on social pressures and acceptance (likes, retweets, etc...) are an interesting phenomenon. Many of us talk about how awful and repressive regimes like China are with their social monitoring and manipulation tactics, but I don't see things like Twitter and face book as any different. It's alike a guided form of schoolyard peer pressure. We all hail companies like google, face book, twitter, instagram, etc as the future and these great American success stories, but they're entire businesses models are US, our data our likes, our dislikes, who we love, who we hate, our perversions, our fears, where we go, what we're likely to buy and lust after, it's pretty fucking scary the scope of what these huge companies know about us. And why are they doing it? To sell more product to us for sure, but there's no way uncle Sam isn't going to get in on a piece of that. Cointelpro was a incredibly successful program, as is/was the Patriot act, but we've all found out about that and public opinion forces the govenrment to look elsewhere, so of course Congress is subpoenaing facebook, google, twitter, and the like. They want that data and they're going to get it one way or another.

shortage of sand? Dorian left homes full of it, and buried cars at Avon on Hatteras Island. no shortage of sand there...Mother Nature is a ring-tailed bitch.:biggrin:

We have mostly river silt. I'm on 125 vertical feet of the stuff, and about 1/4 mile from the river, as the crow flies... or any other birds more inclined toward a straight flight-path, too.

HUGE difference in properties of silt versus sand. Drainage being a biggie. Life of a well-designed septic field in silt, versus sand, is significant.

Gardening in silt and loam, versus sand and loam? Drainage, once again. And ease of travel/growth for the roots...

Rain and ground flow moving particulates? More movement of the ground with silt, and it turns to jello where it's not stabilized by root systems more so than with sand.

We/the aggregate outlets get sand from rock-bottom rivers, where hundreds of years of moving water have broken down the rocks. On occasion a lucky score in actual sand deposits otherwise.

I dislike silt.. Own a lot of it..

Today being the 22nd, I listen to an accounting of the JFK related documents yet to be released.
Long running scam, when each new administration comes in, the agency asks them to delay the
already agreed upon release of papers.
Works like ringing a bell with out fail, each and every time.

Heard a related fact that was new to me.
John Mitchell, Nixon's Attorney General,
was JFK's immediate superior officer for a period during WWII.

Lord Hanson (Peabody Mines)came out and asked what brand cement we used. Said he just bought Kaiser Cement. We started using Kaiser. Ugly dark shit.He split up the company and sold off to Mitsubishi.
When the painters came in, he bought Glidden Paint. Remember when it was good paint? That was before he bought it.
They created a custom color that was only used on his house. I think called it “Hanson Gold”. He split up the company and sold the name.
His company symbol was an American flag tied in a knot. Word was he had Congressional approval to do so. IDK
