Too Much or too Little nutes DWC

Thanks Weedman Herb, for the quick reply and answering one of my questions, the other question was about the iron disabling the water pump.

Also, one more for ya, how many PPMs should i be using, in total, with the 5ml/ galon formula i am using? (plants are 4-6")

is there any formula i can go by to determine how many PPMs for certain hights, like 100PPMs/ Inch or something?

How often do i have to add more cal mag? Are you confirming that its hard to "over do it" with cal mag, as long as you dont have the cal mag + with nitrogen?

Much as I rail against PPM, the plants are illiterate and they don't care. As long as you can plot a line with your meter, all you really need to know is: EC climbs=nutes too strong; EC drops=nutes too weak.

I found a mild pH drift is better than any one number. Because pH moves opposite to EC I feed slightly strong and alkaline. Over two weeks, EC climbs while pH drops and 4 gallons of tap water brings me back to starting numbers.

If you don't feel like measuring and keeping notes, there's always Lucas' 0-8-16 Formula. Many swear by it.

I have always had problems if my res temp climb above 72f. I bought a couple of chiller and day night difference. before the plants would grow, but the roots would brown a little and yields were low. with the chillers it is unbelievable how fast the grow and yield, I am much happier now.

temps need to be between 65f-70f and no more the 73f

how much was the chiller, like 300 bucks? I'm under 75 F now consistantly. Good enough?

Freezer, so what your saying is as long as they keep taking in the nutes? Thats what i should go by?

Leaves curled up around the edges like a canoe. Air Temps 75 F, water temps 80 F, i just threw a frozen water bottle in there to bring it down.

what do you think is causing the leaves to curl like that? Water temps?

I've been steadily increasing the nutes for the past few days, am now up to 720 ppms (at least a quarter of which is cal mag)

As you can see, they have been growing like mad, Might have grown close to double in size just over the long weekend.

I got my chillers for 150 to 200 on ebay. if your patient you can find them pretty cheap on there.
wait til you hit a hot week, your temp are going to raise.
they did on me....

They're always going to take in nutes. The question is: at what rate?

Get a journal and keep scrupulous notes. Mix your nutes and make note of the formula used and the readings provided. Come back every day and measure again. Once you have several readings you'll see that EC numbers are going up (too rich), down (too lean) or flat.

I had mine flatline for a month. Thought it was what the plant wanted but, slow growth and wide spread yellowing was the result. I believe from pH induced magnesium lockout. Once I planned in a mild pH swing, green growth returned.
