When I first started growing I tried peat mixes and I recall having similar problems as you’re having. I switched to soil and problems went away. Soil seems to be a lot more forgiving than peat based mixes...especially when it comes to pH.

Oh F'me. Potassium Silicate!!!! This soil/soiless biz is harder for me than hydroponics. I guess I have to unlearn that but not unlearn it completely.

My Cal Nit just arrived last night so would it be better to use that at 100-150 for a starter or go with mixing the RO and tap?

Roger that. I will report back next week.

Thanks so much everyone!

I fed everything with at least 30% runoff.

RO
100ppm Cal Nit
brought up to 500ppm w PBP Grow
ph 6.0

Yo ,i would not use cal nit unless u see a cal deficiency. The problem with it is it comes with alot of nitrates witch can sometimes be a problem. Thats why your tap is probably a better option, lots of cal and prob some mg without the nitrogen. Most cal mag products are usually a mix of calcium nitrate and magnesium nitrate. These do not buffer water well. You want some calcium carbonate-CaCO3(alkalinity) ,which your tap water has.

I give up.

They don't look that bad as they are under a couple cfl's and a couple screw in leds. I saw people using jacks hydro w cal nit so again assumed simply excluding the magnesium and the potassium would suffice. I see what you mean that calcium carbonate seems to be closer to just calcium. I will save the cal nit for my next hydro veg and go w a mix of tap and RO next watering.

Thanks guys I appreciate the support.
