I'm pretty good at getting old seeds to germ. I used all of my tricks but nothing worked. I did get 1 to semi grow but it did not survive..
shoot a dm if you likeSaw that, I hadn't listened to the second interview when I made this post. I'll look for f2s I suppose, too bad cannabiogen is out, that Panama x DC looked great.
Yep, one of my fears with seeds that aren't in current production. Around 10 years ago I did have 90% success with (ohaze x skunk) x op from Sam Skunkman which were pretty old with one set of twins, so 100%? Lol I see his thunk still up, which I'd love, but they must be from the same stock I bought in '09.I went through 30 seeds recently of DC..
20 were DC from the real seed company
10 were Monky balls f2.. I got ZERO to germ. All were old seeds.
Kingdom Organic Seeds as wellHuba seeds also carries a version of Chunk, think they call it Chunky Balls
Sounds good.I'd personally wait for Nspecta's (CSI Humboldt) reproduction of Tom Hill's Deep Chunk... first hand early stock and 80+ plants at the moment for a decent reproduction and keeper selection according to the last pictures he uploaded. He did that with PTK as well some time ago.
You can't really go wrong with that, so I won't waste time with unverified closet-made F2s that you can't even track down to the original source. I wouldn't waste time with unknown repros unless I can 100% verify the source of the stock and see the repro documented somewhere in order to check the plants. I remember back then loads of people were giving out allegedly F2s from Deep Chunk at the forums and most didn't even look like the real deal, or were produced with only a few plants meaning they will be even more inbred than DC already is.
By the way, Deep Chunk, like most hashplants, is a mold magnet so I wouldn't even think on growing that or its hybrids in a humid place unless you plan to do a LOT of mold resistance selection. You will have much better results with acclimatised and sturdy hashplants like the old Swiss and Danish genetics from the 90s or things like the Pakistan Chitral cultivar, that were a bit more resistant too, at least the old stock I tried from Cannabiogen back then.
Thanks, good advice about the mold, my plan for indicas has been to put them outside to flower when the dry season starts. Humidity drops to 0 and everthing dries up for 4 months.I'd personally wait for Nspecta's (CSI Humboldt) reproduction of Tom Hill's Deep Chunk... first hand early stock and 80+ plants at the moment for a decent reproduction and keeper selection according to the last pictures he uploaded.
