Hello all,

I was just chastised by my sweet wife for not putting the seat back down when done.

I say that in the sixties when women stood up for there rights lost their seat.

So, I have the courtesy to lift it up before I do my business then women can put it down right?

Talk amongst yourselves, there's coffee and pound cake on the table...I am getting a little verklempt.

My wife and I solved this long running argument thusly.

Both of us put both the seats down when we are done. That way both of us have to lift to do our business and put down when done.

Plus keeping the seat down keeps the mutt from drinking out of there.

Compromise is the name of the game.

I always thought I was being considerate enough lifting the seat in the first place. I could be lazy and just leave it down and piss all over it.

Guys don't fall into the toilet at 2AM. But my wife and 3 girls would.
What seems like the right thing to do?

I remember seeing this on a bathroom wall near where I lived.

There is another reason to put the seat down…

If you don’t put the seat down when you flush, tiny drops of water, (along with whatever else is in in the water when you flush), spray all over everything…the floor, the walls, your toothbrush…I keep the toothbrush heads in a drawer, but if you leave them on the counter…
Mythbusters did a segment on it and the droplets wound up a disturbing distance away. http://www.smartplanet.com/blog/science-scope/new-evidence-that-flushing-your-toilet-with-the-lid-up-is-a-public-health-hazard/

If they're at the age where falling into the toilet could be fatal, then yes, got to leave the toilet seat down.

/\ the kind of attitude that will earn one a new home on the couch.

when toilet is flushed it sprays the liquid into a mist that covers everything in the bathroom including your toothbrush on the sink. we both put it down when done.
