To keep or not to keep... Moms

So I'm in a legal med state and have a few moms going right now, but due to plant numbers my moms are taking my numbers away. So my question is. If you take clones after clones, is the potency & yield going to be effected down the road? Or is it still technically the same plant as the original clone from a seeded mother? Thoughts...

You really only need 1 mother per strain.

Why not have 2 moms one for indica one for sativa? Or just 1 mom of your favorite strain?

What number are you limited to?

One mum, shit, I've got 24 of the bastards. Where I live one plant is illegal.

D2G-I literally just finished reading whodair's thread and saw your post about keeping a mum. I've been struggling, internally, with this for a while. At first I had a mum. Then I took clones of clones for about 1 year but found that to be to difficult for me and my routine. So, now I have mums again.

IME, whatever works best for your routine is the best option.

clones of clones doesnt effect the quality of the strain, its still the exact same plant. several members have stated though, after 5-10yrs the plants start to degrade.

ive the same plant, clone from clone, for almost 3 years with no issues in quality.

shit, i have 30-40 moms i forget... it's hard to get rid of anything good. so, i'm going to breed and self almost if not all of them and get them down to a respectable number. then i'll have seeds to play with no matter what.... look at the elite saving non gmo seed stock, there's a reason for it. so, i'm going to do the same with food if i can, but cannabis for certain. next thing on my list is genetic replication or tissue cloning. going to get my strains out of the country one day if i can. i just don't like where we are headed. when the dollar goes, shit's going to hit the fan. i don't think that'll be the time for planning.

as for you, someone got the idea of grafting so if you learn the tecnique you can have your mom's and flower as well.
