Make the jump to double ended bulbs and don't look back. I've been flowering nonstop for 30 months under my gavitas and still pulling 2+ per light with them set to 750 watts.

I would buy a new one, i always have a back up of almost every thing, pumps, bulbs etc etc.
point is, i bet if you put the new one in next to the 4yrs old bulb you would see a big difference. you don't notice the bulb dimming with age unless it's next to a new one.
but I'll bet the new bulb smokes the 4yr old bulb
if not you have a back up and and I'll damn sure will be buying ushio
:smoke:

Ditto. Last big shop I worked at had hid lighting. When a bulb was replaced because the old one blew it stood out as the brightest. By shop it was a heavy equp. garage 200x200 16 hid lights.

you can pay for that gavita setup in another 6months tree....:shucks:

I really inches away from biting the bullet and getting some.

My friend had a lamp(lumens) tester and 1 year old hortilux tested higher than a new philips... we ran em 2 years after that, but in a rough spell I when 3+ years and noticed when they get old they turn on and off... some takes a year others up to 4. No noticable yeild drop off for me. still 1.6-2 steady.

Damn!

Damn!

When an HPS enters the end of its life it is normal for it to cycle on and off.Whats not normal(just kidding) is burning flowering lamps for years.

Forgot to mention in my other post, I bought 2 Digilux 600 HPS. Checked them after one crop, and both had turned dark on both ends. I won't be getting more. -granger
